301 & 302. Please help!

Hi,
We updated our internal business page and would like to make it our new Home page. Will we lose the authority of the old home page and SERP? Can we just switch pages and make the updated business page as a new /index page (a new home page)?
Or, should we make 301 redirects from the current home page to the updated business page to transfer its authority? If we do so, then all of our home page visitors will always be redirected to /business page, instead of the index page... Not to mention that Google may never see /index page this way...
What should we do? Please advise!
