Here's another interesting one I read today.

Apparently there is an up and coming database that is purportedly better than Yahoo at determining how many true incoming links a web site has.

It goes by the name of Majestic-SEO.

Here's the link -> Majestic-SEO : Research : Competitor analysis

    Hi Carlos,

    Majestic SEO has been around for a while. It's a semi-commercial offspin of the Majestic 12 (Majestic-12: Distributed Search Engine) project which aims at competing with the large search engines.

    They seem to have indexed a lot of sites indeed. I don't know how they shape up against the biggies at this point in time. They also have their own ranking systems and parameters.

    I've been playing with MJ for a bit. On the whole, I've found them to index my sites a lot slower or not at all. My conclusion is that I've put it aside. Not another range of parameters to learn about and check regularly, not another time investment.

    Kind regards,
    Zorro

      Yeah...I was just thinking of them as possibly a better link analysis tool than the Yahoo "link:<domain>" thingy is all. Certainly not a substitute for Google never mind the other search engines as far as traffic or getting a good ranking.

      If you mean the SEO Firefox plugin...that's been way innacurate in my experience with respect to the number of links that even Yahoo shows.
