SEO: Written Content vs Affiliate Store?

Hello--I am in the process of creating my first website and am having difficulty making a decision about how to display my affiliate products.
I have a directory and will be writing lots of original content; however, I want to put all affiliate products in a curated store using WooCommerce. I like that the products will be neatly categorized and searchable--it's not always easy to go back and find a product when you are ready to buy. I like the idea of having everything in one place instead of scattered throughout the website.
I hesitate to do this because I am worried that setting my website up this way will make it more challenging to rank for the keywords in my niche. I am under the impression that a product listing, no matter how detailed, will still have less link juice than written content, but can't prove/disprove it. Can anybody give me any tips or insight into how I should go about this?
