How To Choose An SEO Company?

I've mainly focused on PPC marketing but I know want to start more content creation and SEO. What do you look for in all these SEO companies? Are they even worth it? Thanks for your help.

        Yes, you can do the SEO work of your website. If you like to read then you can surely do it. SEO requires lots of research and reading. You can start with the link building process by submitting your website to directories, article submission sites, press release submission, forum post, blog comments, social bookmarking etc.

    When choosing an SEO company, this is what I would recommend:
    • First and foremost, ask for samples of their current rankings. Check the keywords that they provide for proof of being able to obtain rankings and make sure they at least show up in the google adwords keyword tool. I.e., that they are keywords that people actually search for, and there are at least a thousand or so searches per month.
    • Make sure they are primarily a link building SEO company. Almost every web designer lists SEO as a service they provide. When they say SEO, I've found most don't understand the link building aspect, or off-page factors. Instead, they want to charge thousands for changes to your site, i.e., on-page factors, which have almost no effect on the rankings. (We have web design companies as SEO clients that list SEO as a service they provide.)
    • Make sure they do multiple link building methods. I'm not sure how competitive your keywords are, but the more competitive, the more link building methods and links you'll need.
    If you stick with those two principles you should be fine.

    Since you already do PPC, you are in a great position as you should be doing tracking at the keyword level and know what keywords convert. One common problem is clients want to do SEO on a lot of keywords. Where, if you know what keywords convert, ONLY do SEO for those keywords, and you'll get much better results.

    PS - I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. SEO is very labor intensive, including writing. We have staff overseas that do much of the work.

    Looking for a company to trust is very difficult thing to do. We need to have the patience to look for it. "Looks can be deceiving" It doesn't matter if you are in the first page or last page of SERP, this ranking should not be the basis. Research more to have a lists of companies that you can trust.

    1. You have to ask them for previous samples which they have done
    2. Check their previous sites and try to contact site owners and get some ideas about their service. (If they have any freelancer site profiles, there the service buyers could post reviews, so, you can check that)
    3. Ask them to deliver reports once in a week or once in two weeks
    4. Ask them to have proper communication with you daily or once in 3 days period.
    5. Do not pay them, Put escrow and release partly escrow when the part missions are completed - That will be fine for you and them.
