Has the economy hurt your Adsense income?

People here seem real skitterish about discussing their average earnings across all sites (as asked in my last poll)....have no clue why that is...but I figured it might be less threatening for me to conduct a more generalized poll.

Has your Adsense income gone down during the hard economic times we are experiencing, stayed the same, or gone up?

The economy really hasn't done anything to hurt my business whatsoever. If anything, it has enhanced it. Just gotta' adapt.

Thanks TJ. Great to know. You didn't vote by the way.

My adsense has always been bad!

I have to admit, I'm really doing a lot of work for my clients, so I don't have that much time to do my own sites that has adsense on it.

Yeah I do work for clients too. Problem with that is that you are tied to your work in a way that prevents you from maximizing your time to do other things while still making some money.

If you don't work you don't make money.

With Adsense, once a site is up and running and making money you can tone the work and go into maintenance mode for the most part unless a competitor tries to muscle you out of your niche.

Also with Adsense one can be independent of the local economy. And if one needs more money in retirement than the paltry sums being paid out by Social Security in return for all the money that has been pumped into that program...well...instead of begging the government for more one can just go find some more nice keywords and build sites around them.

            I like that!

If I get too many clients going I will definitely start saying no to them so I can continue focusing on Adsense. Don't get me wrong...having clients is great but having clients ties me down and makes web development little more than just another job albeit a good paying one.

I don't want a job. I want freedom. Adsense is one way down the road to freedom. Not entirely since Google could take it all away overnight, you have to diversify, but it's a step in the right direction.

So far the sampling is way too small to come to any conclusions but it looks promising with respect to Adsense being a good business to be in during a recession.

      Keep the voting coming folks!

Go for evergreen markets like dating, relationships and things like that.

It doesn't matter if there is no economy, people still have problems in these areas and will want to fix it!

I hadn't thought of that jacksonlin. Good point.

I guess bath soap, toilet paper, even make up, would all be ever green too. Unless things get real, real bad...even worse than the great depression...I think people will want to keep themselves clean and for the women folk...looking pretty.

Gosh. I just noticed that this thread has had 100 and some odd views but only about 7 people have voted. That's just weird. It seems like people on this forum are super paranoid about not saying anything about whether they are making any money at all from Adsense. Even when it's anonymous and about as non-identifiable as asking if you all use toilet paper.

Just weird as in I can't wrap my head around it. If I was making money from Adsense I would have absolutely no qualm whatsoever with saying whether I made money or not and even what I make on average per web site (without violating Google TOS or anything).

As it is I haven't even completed my first Adsense web site so I haven't made a penny from it yet. So I can't really vote.

The other possibility is that there are whole heck of a lot of newbie lurkers around here who likewise aren't making a penny from Adsense. I suppose that might be a possibility too but 90 penniless Adsense wannabe's for every 10 who make anything at all from it? I don't know about that.

Like I said...just weird how there could be so many views of this poll and so few votes cast.

IF YOU VIEW THIS POLL PEOPLE....PLEASE VOTE! (assuming you make any money at all from Adsense). Nobody is going to report you to the IRS or tell you that you are a failure if you are not making as much as others are....no one will even know who you are! Just vote!
