No organic traffic after 4 months

I have a strange situation here. Two years ago i started a travel website and all went very well even for a new domain. Adsense also worked right away, steadily increasing.

After 6 months, for personal reasons, i had take down the website (but not the domain) and left a simple explaining page.

Now, in February, i recovered from my problems, and started again. New portal software and mainly forums.

What i did is to copy my old content into the new website as forum posts. Same titles, same everything. Around 300 pages.

Also did a small optimization again and added new stuff.

The problem is that i don't seem to get any organic traffic, less than 1%.

I don't get it. How is it possible with the same content, not to get any traffic.

Am i punished from google because i was inactive for a year or so ?

Any ideas ?

thanks

Just because two twins look alike doesn't mean they are the same person.

The on-site factors may be the same now as they were years ago, but the off-site factors have changed. Mainly, the fact that you no longer have the backlinks that boosted your site and gave it traffic. Engine's algorithms have changed, there may be more competition, the keywords may have become less popular, etc. There are several other factors contributing, but essentially at this point you are starting from scratch.

Right. But i have the feeling that this time is much-much harder. And i'm also much better in what i do, so that makes me wonder.

you thought that when you did take down your site, your contents were deleted also in the web?

i think your current website's content maybe seen by google as duplicate content or a copy of your former website.. when you took down your website, cached copies of your webpages are still stored in the web so when you used again your domain and uploaded the same contents, google saw these as duplicate contents.. maybe this affected the amount of traffic that you have because google doesn't rank your website as well as your former website's contents..

this is just a theory, but i think an answer can be derived from this..

Nop. This is not the case. After a while google de-indexed my website totally. What google has now is my new pages. But the keywords i targeted two years ago (and still searched) i can't make them to rank good.

      Maybe time is needed.

Did you by any chance take a look-see at the current stats for your keywords with respect to the kind of traffic they are getting, the competitiveness of the niche, PR of top positioned pages, and so forth?

Yes i did. It is a very tight niche. Didn't change much from two years ago.

I find it impossible to have only TWO visitors from google from June until today.

I have three adsense website, and this is the first time i see google "ignore" me.

Also i now have 4 times the backlinks i used to have and more pages indexed.

Seems that only bots and strange spiders find me (i see a lot of direct traffic in Analytics).

ps. There is also an other possibility, the new portal software doesn't do well with seo.

Have you checked your webmaster tools?

Yes, google webmaster tools show nothing wrong imho.

I'm good in several searches (as per google tools) but no visitor from those searches.

Where is your new site hosted? Is it on the same domain name or another domain? If its on a different domain name then you're probably being punished for duplicate content. You may need to do a permanet redirect to let Google know.

Secondly, if its on the same domain, then your backlinks may have been deleted. You'll probably have to start again and hopefully you'l be back to where you were before. Id also add some new content as soon as possible and try to get this indexed so at least you've got something showing up as unique.

The site is using the very same domain.

And half of the backlinks were lost, but i created 4 times that. Still no luck.

I'm indexed all right, usually within 48 hours.

What i will do, is add more content and wait a couple of months (while building something else).

      And see how it goes.

But i still believe i have been punished for something, i have no idea what that is.

      thanks !

How long did it take you to create the backlinks? I think its acombination of lots of factors and not just one thing. The fact that your site was down for such a long time is no good, the fact that your backlinks have also died is not good, obviously theres been no updates so Id say its a lot of things.

I'd start to build up the site slowly and naturally again with emphasis on drip feeding content on a regular basis, that should help it gain some credibility. Just do what your doing, don't give up as it WILL take some time thats all.

    Good luck with it.

I started to build new backlinks 4 months ago.

Something that i didn't mentioned: every week i use webseo to check my sites. That particular site i;m talking, seems to get de-indexed very often and come back again. By often i mean maybe once a week.

Is that something that should alarm me or give me an idea of what is wrong ?
