showing up in the SERPs - how long?

I put up a new site on 8/10/09. It's indexed, but isn't showing up very well in the SERPs. According to Market Samurai there are two pages coming up - one at 138 and one at 69 on broad match search - but the domain itself and none of the other 15 pages are coming up on broad match at all, though a couple are showing from the 40s to 170 for phrase match. Google webmaster tools is showing a total of 85 backlinks - 42 to the domain itself, and the rest to specific pages.

It's a fairly competitive niche but I did my research and the phrases the pages are optimized for are reasonable - all show "go" in Micro Niche Finder.

My question is, does this seem like an OK status for as long as the site's been up? I'm particularly curious because I was trying out Traffic Bug when I put the site up, and I submitted the site and all its pages. I cancelled the service a week or so ago because I was getting responses from directories that showed the site had been submitted under entirely wrong categories. I'm not blaming Traffic Bug for the site not showing up or anything, but I am curious. Does this SERP placement (or lack thereof) seem right for a site that's only been up for less than two months?
