What makes a site quality?

I am looking at other sites and am wondering what I need to do to make my site above the others. I know information is key, but how much do I need. I see some of my competitors have hundreds of pages. I'm thinking my site is way too thin. It is new and I am planning on adding content constantly, but how much do I need? Also, are there good affordable services out there that will create content on an ongoing basis? I look forward to hearing responses and think this will help a lot of people! My site is in my sig if you didn't already figure that one out

    Great content with an appropriate level of your target keyword is best.

    Optimise a landing page for the keyword set you are tageting rather than trying to get your home page to the top for all your target search terms.

    SEO it appropriately. Know your niche and target your content accordingly to get good ranking on Google. Great content brings traffic that's all there is to it.

    Obiovusly you need to ensure that you add all the seo factors within your content as mentioned above, but with regards to the content itself, it has to be something that adds value, not just fluff that is full of keywords. Take a step back and put yourself into you readers shoes for a moment, forget about seo, keywords, search engines etc and ask yourself; Is this content useful? If the answer is yes then thats the type of content you need to make your site more appealing to your visitors! SEO that content and bingo.
