What's up with google lately?

I created a WordPress blog on my own domain and it's been several days now since I've done that.

Now, I did a lot of social bookmarking, and I created several back-links, posted a few articles both on GoArticles and on EzineArticles (waiting to be approved) and I did several social media sites to link back to my site.

Yet the Google bot didn't come by to visit. With my older experience in the trade (my early beginnings) it would take about 2-3 days to get indexed by Google.

Does anyone know if Google is undergoing some changes and is doing things in a more slower pace or could it be something else.

P.S. I'm using Market Samurai to check my rankings and I'm using the traffic bug site to promote my site around.

P.P.S
What is the standpoint of you SEO guys on submitting your site directly to Google? I have read that one should not do this. Why not?

I am also in the same boat, uploaded two sites sent out 10+ articles, back links you name it still waiting to get indexed (its been about 5 days)

Also ive got two ads pending review for the past 2 days, i think google had a big update or something over the last couple of days, it was advertised in the campaign management area.

    Hope that helps.

From what I've heard, if you use adwords they'll not rank you on purpose because that way you'll depend on them and that means you'll have to pay them to get traffic. Jut my 2 cents on your situation. Me on the other hand i'm trying to get natural traffic, as much as possible.

        Hi TheGodfather,

I'm sorry, but that's is just total bunk. I've never seen any evidence of that and I often use AdWords when launching a new website.

When you have a brand new website, with a lot of great content and nobody knows it exists, you have to advertise or promote it in some fashion. AdWords is a great way to get a lot of targeted traffic real quick. If your content is great then people will bookmark it, blog about it, tweet about it and backlink to it.

Using AdWords is one of the best ways to generate a lot of natural backlinks, the kind that Google likes. For me, it has always helped my organic rankings.

I was just saying what I've heard. Didn't claim that it was true although i do see the logic if google did such a thing...

I think i heard it on the .X. video seminar, some SEO expert or something like that was saying something like that...i'd have to check it out once more on the dvd-s, just have to find them....

um...stupid question, but did you change the Privacy Settings in WordPress?

By default, they come set to block the search engine spiders.

I actually experienced this first hand. Man I fell DUMB until I realized its Fantastico that puts this by default - I was on another host before so it wasn't an issue.

STILL, Google is slower these days. It can take WEEKS for text and image ads to be approved on the content network!!! WTF is going on???

    I would say, don't worry!

    Here's why

These days it seems for Google "less is more".

Google seems to take it easy on sites that go too much overboard with promotion, especially in the first few days of launch.

    Not a big deal.

You will get indexed, but in the first few weeks I would concentrate on few links mainly from trusted sources like EzineArticles and only then expand.

A link from EzineArticles will most likely get you indexed pretty much straight away.

Google knows the difference between bookmarking and EzineArticles.

    EzineArticles get top points.

You could also try to post a response on Yahoo Answers to some question.

This alone wold often get you indexed too.

Do not bother submitting your site to Google, let another AUTHORITY site link to you first and get your indexing that way.

How did you install Wordpress? Did you do it through Fantastico? If you did, here's probably what's going on. When you install WordPress through Fantastico, the DEFAULT privacy setting is set to NOT allow your site to show up in the search engines.

What you need to do is go into the privacy settings in your wordpress admin dashboard and change that. If you install through fantastico, this should be the FIRST thing you do when logging in.

The reason I specify if you did it through fantastico, because like mentioned that is the default setting when you do that, you don't even get a choice. When you install WP manually by ftp'ing the files and creating a database, when you run the config file it's right there in your face as a checkmark option.

    Hope that helps!

I use word press direct, and it's SEO optimized and works with cPanel, so it has indexing available. I noticed today that google bot came by one of my posts but still no rankings... some of my links managed to get in the top 120 rankings... but non of them are on my domain... oh well.... I'll wait a few more days and prepare several articles...

Google has taken a lot longer recently in index sites, I've had them in the listings overnight in the past, but not any more. You will get there any day now.

Also, Ezinearticles seem to be taking a lot longer these days as well.

with a new domain regardless of api you are using (Wordpress,Drupal, or other CMS) it will take some time until you reach some "ranking" with backlinks.

Put a link to it with your keywords in a forum signature here on warrior forum. Make sure its original content as to not violate forum rules ...

      Jumptags ... book marks.

Submit to yahoo - site submit

If its wordpress or other rss enables cms ... grab the content rss feed and submit it to both feedage.com and feedagg.com.

If not rss enabled - perhaps convert the home page main url to rss using feedage.com's conversion tool then submit that url to the aforementioned rss aggregation sites.

      Ping-o-matic [ everything ]

I also have downloaded the the little Jumptags firefox plug in toolbar widget dealio ... I view my rss feeds in a browser window and hit the jumptags tool icon in firefox ... that brings up a jumptags RSS bookmark widget and they will bookmark the rss feed url. Nifty.

Im getting rather obscure web properties and my links that reside on them spidered in less than < 6 days on average ... they appear in yahoo site explorer in that time frame anyway. I like it.

Using iMacros to automate the vast majority of this process.

If you use Google Webmaster Tools you will know what is happening with the Google Bot and your sitemap. It is possible that there is an error with your .htaccess or robots.txt.
