Is SEO better like this or like that?

I have a site I've optimized really well, but now I need to figure out my next seo course of action.

Is it better to add a bunch of pages (100) to my site and link back to my homepage on each site, which would create a lot of on-site links, or is it better to use articles (10) to link back to my site?

Since Google released news recently that they don't really like article directories much and may reduce their page rank's soon, I'm thinking article marketing may not provide me with longevity.

Also how successful have you been with press releases? Have you gotten any good backlinks from them? Are free release sites good?

Now that you're done with your onsite optimization, the next and MUCH MORE important thing to do is build backlinks. You'll get more results by getting links from 10 articles you've created and submitted than you will if you created more pages on your site (ideally you can do both). Make sure you use the proper "anchor text" on your links in the articles.

You might think about using an SEO method called "link wheels" to get a ton of backlinks (see my signature for free info)

News releases do work, and if done correctly they'll bring traffic and backlinks. I tend to use paid services for my clients (ie. PRWeb) but free ones might work for traffic (and should work for backlinks)

Internal Links are good for SEO but external Links are still far more superior. So i would suggest you to build 10 external Links.

Also,i won't recommend you to to add 100 pages at once. That is likely to be spammy.Add pages gradually. When your indexed pages increase, add more pages and keep on doing so until you reach the desired number.Just don't make G feel suspicious.

Article Marketing has dis-valued over the years and i don't think there is going to be any change in this trend until and unless something special happens.Still, article Marketing is the proven-to-be-effective technique to gather one way links. So,i dont think the time has already come to stop using these directories. If you do it correctly, this thing is the one of the most effective one.

Press Releases are pretty good but there are not much quality and free PR websites around. Most of the quality ones are paid ones. Some PR sites also don't allow inclusion of Anchor Text links without paying.

So,it isn't that good for free method of Link Building. On the contrary,if you can pay for it,this can be effective. They offer Great News Distribution service for higher exposure and you also can gather lots of high quality Links.
