This issue covers a lot of different areas but I thought I'd try it here first. My website has had a separate demo page for 2 years. It's indexed, comes up in searches and has a number of good backlinks of it's own (demo.html).

The problem is that I've decided it doesn't work well this way from a sales perspective. Visitors to the sales page have to leave the page to go to the demo when they're ready for it, and then come back to read the final part of the sales letter. It disrupts the momentum.

I've decided it's better to integrate the demo into my sales letter at the most effective place... but what about the demo page which is an established part of my site and has visitors arriving through direct links?

I see the following options:

1. Redirect demo.html to the demo on my sales page (index.html#demo). The down side to this is that I'm worried about the SEO implications. Also, it doesn't look very good for people arriving on external links to land in the middle of a page.

2. Keep the demo page up along with the demo on my sales page. Problem is, it could be confusing to visitors and will be duplicate content.

3. ??? Is there another option? Is there any way to put the demo in some kind of IFRAME or grey window that keeps sales page visitors from leaving the page, but that opens as a normal page for visitors coming outside the site through demo page links?

I'm sure there must be some kind of slick technical way to handle this. I'm really looking for the most effective and seamless way to handle this demo aspect. Any suggestions appreciated!

Keep the demo page link to open with target="_blank" attribute. So visito stays on the sales page. Closes demo page after they finished with it.
