Google stole my money

I have a 25 page site in the "registry" niche. Most of my sales (around 75%) came from the "home page" which was optimized for a well converting keyword. My site used to show up on page 1 in the 10th position.

Suddenly I noticed yesterday that site is not showing up for that keyword. If I enter the site manually in google, it is there so it is not delisted which I also verified with other inner link keywords. I did some backlinking recently but that was for the inner pages. It is a 3 yr old site.

How do I get back my ranking back for the home page? Will it help if I totally change the content on the home page and do some social bookmarking?

Thanks in advance

Shiv

Probably nothing you can do aside from wait. This happens to everyone.

So should I change content on the home page and resubmit the home page RSS so google will revisit and hopefully give back my ranking.

    Google didn't steal your money.

1st page ranking isn't yours in the first place.

Rankings bounce back and forth all the time, no big deal really. You just need to stay on top of it a little, remember you are not the only one trying to rank in that market. If you make a move there is a pretty good chance your competitors will do the same. If the keyword is important you will keep working on it, if not then there is a pretty good chance it will fall back a little. Normally it just takes a little more link building to get your rankings back.

I know the feeling, I've been top spots for certain keywords, then 3-4 sites come and knock me down.. it's a never ending battle..

Thanks a lot for all the advice. The title "google stole..." was meant to evoke some responses, just practicing article marketing 101. Tina great advice about checking image names
