My experience with getting links indexed

When people backlink - they leave links on this special site or that high PR site. After they leave it, they go to the next site and leave a backlink. They forget all about getting the page indexed where they left the link. This is very important - if it doesn't get indexed - it doesn't do you any good.

Yes, eventually, the page that you left your backlink on will eventually get indexed - but it may take a few months. Some people, seeing this, turn to pingomatic or pingler to get these pages indexed - or they may even social bm the page. I can only say from my experience, that this rarely works for me. I'm pretty impatient, so I try a different approach.

If I want a page where I left a link on indexed quickly, I've found that I can do it two ways. Let's say I create content on a new web 2.0 property and it isn't indexed yet. I would leave a sig link on a high traffic forum and see that it usually becomes indexed a lot faster than if it was bookmarked or pinged.

Another way is this. I have a website "in the harbor" that has a PR of 3 that the Googlebot visits quite often. I would leave a link or two to a Web 2.0 property, and it would get indexed rather quickly. In fact, it's better than when I leave sig links on high travelled forums.

Anyway, that's my advice and personal experience. I hope this can help someone. I'm open to any comments or suggestions...

I do agree with you! When I ping my links, I can see my ranking move within 3 days!

If you don't ping your link, it might never get index at all! Depending where is the link located.

Some profile type link doesn't have a link in the main pages, if it doesn't exists in the sitemap generated by the website, it will never get index, that's why we should always ping the links!

      KKChoon,

I am at the point where my article marketing is getting links but not at the rate I would like. I have identified that I need to link into my article and web 2.0 properties in order to get them indexed. My inital thought was using something like bookmark demon to bookmark my 2.0 properties and get them indexed.

I was thinking if pinging would be a quicker and more effective optin rather than resorting to spammy techniques. Can you recommend a pinging strategy or tool? I have used pingomatic before.

Go with Pingler, I have used both (PingoMatic & Pingler) and Pingler from my testing works very well to index links.

I just learned the easiest way to get your site indexed and that's to post your profile link on a blog. Simple enough and works ridiculously fast. It can be your own blog it really doesn't matter. I just started doing this and found all of my profiles indexed within the hour.

I'll second the Pingler plug. Great little pinger site. And kkchoon is usually got his head on straight about this link building stuff. Listen to the man.

I used to use an Ebay blog to get anything indexed incredibly fast, but they did away with blogs recently. Dangit! Figures.

Yes indeed! Remember to ping your links so search engines know about the updates to that page and crawlers crawl the links appropriately!

Only then can your efforts on building backlinks come to fruition.

I learn something new everyday. I've been working at IM for 1 year now and the thought never even crossed my mind to ping links!
