Issue with indexing of site posts...

Hey guys,

I kinder have a weird thing going on, only noticed it the other day, I have a pretty successful blog using WordPress, now it's main page is number one for a competitive keyword and is doing really well at the moment.

Anyway I create posts to gain more exposure and set up each blog post to be perfect SEO, I then bookmark these to many social bookmarking sites and normally they get indexed within 24hours to 10minutes!

Though recently I have had an issue with the term "Free Playstation 3" I noticed a post I had done a while back using this keyword was no longer indexed, at first I got scared and thought I was kicked off google for good but I hadn't "Phew".

So I thought I'd create a new post using this keyword but using totally fresh content, again this post never got indexed.

Though the rest of my posts do get indexed, what gives?!

Any one had the same experience?

Why is Google not indexing some of my pages but is indexing others?

I thought it was my SEO plugin at first but it seems it's not, any ideas?

Thanks
Gary

Hmm no response so far, anyway another question to add to the thread.

Is it possible to have a blog post banned from Google but for the main URL of the site to stay indexed?

try going over to digg and submitting that page that isn't bookmarked yet. and some other popular social bookmarking sites.

not sure about banning one page, i've never heard of it, to my knowledge they'd ban the entire site, but what bad could you say about a playstation any ways...lol

It is common that pages indexed, dropped and move from page one to page five in serps during a length of time. Just follow up with that page.

It happened to me once. I updated the title of the page and kept that keyword in <h2 tag. It cameback. Not sure that change I did helped or not ...

It is normal for this to happen in my experience. I find my stuff changed multiple times every day by google.

Test this for yourself, go to any niche and make a note of the 10 ten results and the order they are in.

Come back in a few hours (or less) and you will find something has almost certainly changed.

A new entry might have appeared, an existing one vanished altogether, or the ordering of the entries has changed.

This is not just for page 1 results.

Are you sure it's not indexed? Have you checked out the google cache for your domain, or your logs to find out when google bot last visited?

I think you will find it will come back on it's own accord, but try a digg or put a bit of content on a social media website (clearblogs, tumblr, even a wordpress.com account and link with your keyword to your article).

You will probably find it will get indexed fairly quickly.

Or just wait. Did you over do the social bookmarking? I've found that to have a negative effect sometimes.

Google I think is pretty clever at identifying obvious SEO practices. You mentioned "perfect SEO". This is not always the best strategy.

For example you might sometimes want to have absolutely crappy tags not really completely related, or generic, or link with generic anchor text, or just the link itself as anchor text.

    This is keeping it normal.

It's completely possible for an existing entry to disappear for a period of times altogether and then re-appear.

I had my root domain completely disappear from the search engines, but articles stayed indexed.

I left it and did nothing and it came back of it's own accord.

For all we know google screwed something up.

This is one of the reasons why I tell people to use other social media websites in your strategy.

If you're domain is taken out by google, then people can still find you via your content (and links) from other websites.

    Cheers
