Hey there guys . I wanted to know what your opinion on this scenario is...

I'm about to enter a niche that has a lot of very tightly knit micro niches. Each of these micro niches have a 100,000+ search volume per month for the biggest keywords, but only have like 1 Million competing pages.

Could I just tie them all together and use a sub domain for each micro niche, considering how small the competition is and how tightly knit all the micro niches are?

Also, the top pages ranking for the keywords have like next to know optimization.

You can, it's just going to take double the effort to get your subdomains ranked high in the serps. A perfect site to learn how to do this is, is to study about.com's structure. All thier pages are sub domains, and rank extremely well

This is a simple one to answer, is IM a business or a hobby?

If it's a business then get a new domain for each set of keywords,
