Amazon Plugin Display vs Button Display

I have been into confusion from since long and now thought of asking it here in front of experienced people.
In Best List posts, using a button with label 'Buy Now' or 'Check Price' is better or use of plugin like AAWP or Azon converts better? I see the page loads up more quickly with simple links as compared to using plugin as that brings up a number of requests adding up to the load time.
Has anyone thoroughly compared the results?
