PR 4 with no backlinks possible?

I was checking out some domains at freshdrop and tdnam and noticed some high PR domains being sold that have no backlinks. Now I know that you can transfer PR from a high ranking domain to the domain in question and PR is updated infrequently, but am I missing something here? Or is it possible to get a high PR with little or no content and no backlinks?

Thanks

Alan

They could have 301 redirects pointing to them which wouldn't necessarily show up in most tools.

Check the suspicious PR field, most of them have a Y from my experience. Does anyone know how to fake your own PR like this?

Do not buy them they are a scam.

What they are doing is showing another websites PR.

What you need to do is take the url and then go to Google.

      Then type info:domainname.com

And if another persons domain and website shows up then you know
that the person trying to sell you the site is faking it by "borrowing"
      someone else domain and info.

It is very sneaky and a total scam.

Also when you do buy a valid website with PR you most likely
will lose it by the next update because it's not the domain that
carries the PR but the website itself.

Beware of fake Pagerank. You should see some backlinks even if no tool shows them all.

Yes that's the question I was asking "is it possible to get the PR with little or no content and no backlinks"

I know you can modify the .htaccess file to transfer PR from one domain to another and dishonest sellers do this, and once they sell it they switch it to another domain and sell that one and so forth, that's why the PR disappears after awhile (PR doesn't update in real time and could take months).

I always ignored questionable domains like this, even those with questionable backlinks, but I was just wondering if I'm missing anything?

      Thanks

No you are not missing anything. Pagerank fraud is very common. Only question I would ask is how are you identifying that there are no backlinks. I figure I know the answer but just to be thorough.

I usually use dnscoop.com or when I'm in Firefox with the addon (I forget what it's called). They both use yahoo's backlink checker. If there are some links I'll scan over them to see what type of links they are and many times they're not the type of links that would give the page any PR.

      Thanks
