I'm trying for two years to climb on page one on google but still on page 2.

Page one is dominated by

#1 Wikipedia

#2 Wikitravel

#3 Web site by the city (borough - commune ? correct word ?)

and the rest are some web farm websites with huge linking between them.

Any ideas how to beat this ?

thanks

You didn't say how competitive the niche was which can be very important.

It is competitive but from hotels.

Also i have been trying to submit to Dmoz for 2 years with no luck. While i see some junk sites included.

The biggest problem is that most of the websites from #5 (page 1) until the end of page 3 are somehow affiliated between them and some have some links from PR 8 websites. I have no idea HOW they made it.

On the other hand their quality is from mediocre to junk. This is an other "problem" with Google. A lot of junk sites are PR5 and PR6 because of backlinks.

What happened to "Content is King" ?

ps: no matter what i will make it to the first 5. Maybe i can't beat Wikis but i will try until i die.

      THAT NICHE IS MINE !!!!!!!!

Same niche ? I don't think so. NOBODY dares to touch that particular niche, and i'm not talking about travel in general.

When we brainstormed about what niche to hit, all my assosiates told me NOT to touch THAT particular niche. Because it is full of local websites, interlined together and full of high PR links.

But i did. I went to paqe 2 or 3 (we are dancing) in 2 years. But in the first year and a half i had NO idea what i was doing. So actually it is 6 months.

After replicating my competition's steps, i'm stuck. How do i obtain links from PR8 websites ?

Without more information it's impossible to tell you if your site can get to the first page.

Obviously anything is possible with tons of high PR, aged authority backlinks pointing to your site...

Well, Market Samurai reports for that keyword (one word) 250.000 searches daily, and 35% SEOCTR (below 30% is considered ok).

        Traffic Travis says Extremely Difficult.

How do you find traffic travis' evaluation of a keyword (i.e extremely difficult)?

You mention, more than once, about the PR8 links that your competition has. What is stopping you from getting some PR8 or higher links. If your competition can do it, surly you can. If you are not subscribed to one or more of the back link packages available in the WSO forum, you should be, but just find where your competition has their links and go get your links from the same places, just do more of them. But Steven has a list available that give you about ten PR9 sites that you can leave links at each month, and more PR8 than that. Between Angela and Paul, they must have quite a few every month. So what is stopping you from doing what everyone else does?

Sorry, I will explain. A "WSO" is what they refer to as a Warrior Special Offer. It is a section of this forum where vendors offer products they have created. They have to be offered at a special offer, lower than available anywhere else. There is a lot of great stuff in there at unbelievable prices. Be careful though, you can go crazy spending money in there if you are not careful.
Warrior Special Offers Forum That is the link for the WSO section of this forum.

Here is the link for Angela's offer which is 30 high PR web sites that you can leave your back link in a profile. Read her offer for more information, it comes highly recommended by many warriors though. And for $5 per month, you can hardly go wrong. http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...inks-free.html

Steven has an offer where he will send you 500 forums that you can leave a signature link in your posts, every month for $10. Read his offer for more information.
      http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...onth-20-a.html

Paul offers a number of packages from 50 to 120 profile link packages similar to what Angela offers. See his offer for more details at http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...light=backlink

There are others if you do a search of the Warrior Special Offer section by clicking the search link up near the top of the page, and search for backlinks. Some offer packages, some will do the links for you. Or you can buy the packages and outsource them to Odesk or other places. Lots of ways to go about it.

If you need any more information, just let me knww and I will try to help. I had someone doing my back links for me for a while and I paid them $75 a week for 40 hours work. Not a bad deal in my mind. You could do the same thing if you want to. Sure as hell beats doing that tedious work yourself. I figured that I was paying about 15 cents per link, with a post in a forum to boot after they had done it for a while and got used to doing it. Not bad, plus the list cost me $10. And the links were PR9 through PR6.
