My Xfactor Adsense site experience:

This is my first post, and I thought I would share my experience with developing "XFactor" sites.

Well I read and reread Xfactor awesome thread at the beginning of October. I wish I read it earlier! I thought the concept behind it was sound, and so I decided to give it try. I know he has written an ebook, but I didn't purchase it. I thought there was enough info in the thread to get started.

My initial goals were to develop two sites a week, but as things stand now, that's just not possible. I'm a small business owner, and I devote 50-60 hours a week to keep it running. But I'm always looking for additional streams of revenue. Obviously, I thought this was a great way to generate "passive" income, but I know it takes a lot of work to turn these sites into revenue generators. I was going to write a blog about my experiences with these "Xfactor sites", but I just don't have the time. So I think I'm going to try and chronicle my experiences here at least once a month.

So on 10/7, the first thing I did was to purchase Micro Niche Finder...and I gotta say it's a fun tool to play with. That night I spent 4 hours going back and forth on MNF, Ebay, and Amazon. I came up with a list of 15 possible domains, and I decided to purchase 7. When researching possible domains to use, I came across sites that were developed using XSitePro, so I decided not to purchase that piece of software. Instead, I copied the code from a couple of sites, so now I had a couple of templates to use. (If that's frowned upon...oh well!) I may have designer develop me a couple of fresh templates down the line...but for now they'll do.

10/8, I started developing my first site. The Local Search was 5400 and the SOC was 17. So I went onto amazon, and found the products in my niche. I spent the next two days rewriting the product reviews. On 10/10, I found the template I liked the most, edited it, and put the site on the server. I spent 3 hours writing my first article and ended up posting it on goarticles. Obviously, I've read other threads in this forum, and in general, if you can find good vendors, then outsourcing is the way to go. I'm not a great writer, so from that point on, I decided to purchase articles. I submitted my site to Bing, Yahoo, and my sitemap to G00gle.

On 10/12 my site was indexed and ranked number 6 for my main keyword, which happens to be the name of my site "keyword.net". I received my first click for .28c. I was pumped!!! I cranked out my second and third sites the following week. However it took over a week for both of these sites to be indexed. I submitted articles to ezine instead of goarticles this time. Actually, I've only been submitting my sites to ezine. Although my first site was indexed in two days, I've still haven't gotten any "link juice" from goarticles. I think if I uploaded my #2 and #3 sites onto different servers, they may have been indexed quicker. But once they were indexed site #2 was ranked 5th for my main keyword; site #3 is barely hanging onto the first page ranking 10th. I've deployed site #4, and that was indexed this week on the second page.

I know I've made mistakes; but here are two big ones I've noticed thus far:

Some of the keywords that I've purchased domains for don't have high ad costs. My #2 and #3 sites are averaging .05c a click. From an Adsense point of view that's a little disappointing; but I have no one to blame but myself. It may not be all that bad; at least I can experiment with other CPA offers for these sites.

Secondly, I've gone on to purchase an additional 20 domains, but I think some of the niches are so acute, that I'm not going to be able to write enough content to place Adsense onto them. But again I can experiment with other offers.

Thus far I've invested $400.00 (MNF, domains, articles, server space) and that has yielded $3.66. Obviously, that's not great ROI, but I see potential so I'm happy.

My immediate plans are to develop more links! As I mentioned I have platinum status now, so it will be quicker to generate links. I would also like to add at least 8 sites for the remainder of 2009. And finally, I would like to find good vendors.

Just want to say good luck and keep up the hard work.

Second, what process did you use for your Bing and Yahoo submissions?

I submitted my site to Bing, Yahoo, and my sitemap to G00gle.
    Thanks.

Thats excellent, well done. Whats great is that your looking at short term pain for long term gain. It will take a while to get all your rankings to stablise but once they do then hopefully you shoudl start to see some rankings and money with that. Just dont look back, keep building.

Just ensure that you are extremely dilligent with your keyword research as this will make or break your sites.

It can be time consuming but definately worth it. I generally do a searh in MNF, then see if the domain name is available. If it is I then 'narrow dig' my main keyword to see the potential it has to be expanded.

Just keep writing ans submitting articles and it should hopefully all come together nicely.
