Google Adwords - Is it safe to use Content Network

Dear Warriors,

I recently ventured into Google Adwords (PPC) and now getting floods for leads. In fact it is a bit scary and confusing.
How do I know if I am getting quality leads?
Also, when I reviewed the source of my clicks, I realized that 90% of the clicks are coming from 'Content Networks'. I remember reading somewhere that it is better to turn-off 'Content Networks'.

I was hoping some Warrirors with experience in this area could help me.!

Thanks
Ravi Kumar

Content Network is one thing that Google is strong at where its competitors are not. Google has a large publisher network out there (Adsense, that's it) and by advertising in the Content Network, you get your ads out to a larger audience. However, you must know that the CTR is relatively low unlike the Search Network and the way you should write your text ads are also totally different. If you worry about getting the wrong audiences to click your ads, try to filter your ad with negative keywords and try to experiment with placement targeting and contextual placement targeting.

      Hi Ravi,

You need to track your results. Split your campaigns and keep your Content Networks advertising in separate campaigns. Set up conversion tracking and track everything right down to the keyword level.

The most profitable bid levels for the content network will likely be very different from the most profitable bids for the Search Network. By separating and tracking these different networks you can manage each to generate the maximum available profits.

Another reason that you should separate them is because your ad text needs to be written differently for the different Networks for optimal results. Generally speaking, the more granularity in your account structure the better.

Thanks Jay-z. I have put some negative keywords already. Only other thing I noticed is that traffic seems to be coming from 2 countries mainly. I guess I need to track the conversion rate and decide.
