So...I'm number 1 out of 81,000,000 pages broad. Adsense activate! Or not.

I thought I'd try adsense this time. . So, I have two Amazon products that would earn me around $12 in commission and I have adsense in the "sweet spots" above the fold (XFactor style...) ...

And I'm averaging $0.08 a day. Yes, eight cents. Now admittedly, this keyword only pulls in about 6600 searches broad, and 5400 phrase (for which I'm also ranked 1) and that doesn't exactly set the world on fire but come on.... Eight cents?

The web site is absolutely no different from my earners that pull in $200-400 off Clickbank products except this time I thought I'd try physical products (well, Amazon affiliate products) and put Adsense at the top. I think even a crappy CB product would outdo that.

What kind of traffic do I need to make money with Adsense? Seriously, this method almost seems like a waste of time. I'm thinking of scrapping the whole thing and just turning it into a listbuilder.

For a time, I actually thought one used adsense if you don't want to sell other people's crap and you don't want to make your own crap.

I don't know any better but obviously at 0.08/day, your not getting targetted traffic on a hot keyword. How many clicks did that take - 1 or 8? 5400 impressions and only 1-8 clicks is a terrible click-through rate.

Change keywords/niche. There are keywords that pay $1-$8 per click. That's what you want. Of course the competition will be more fierce than ever but you probably figured that out.

So you have other affiliate links on the page, too? That can decrease what ads display on your page. Try removing the other affiliate links, wait a while, and see if each click becomes worth more.

Also, try a smaller adsense block. Like, 2 links instead of 4. Again, that makes each ad more valuable.

Please use exact match. Phrase and broad mean nothing when trying to accurately predict results. Besides, the Google KWT is notorious for misreporting stats anyway.

Try adsense out if you get enough cents per click, otherwise promote Amazon products or CB. I've had one site that went from $100 a month in Amazon commissions to the same amount in Adsense commissions when I changed (I tried using both but did not get half the amount I did using one exlclusively). I stuck with Adsense.

Exact is at 1900 , which isn't superb but I've seen worse.

It kind of goes like this (warning: ASCII graphics ahead)

      [__HEADER__]

      A...[ ADSENSE ]
      d...[ BLOCK ]
      s
      e...Amazon Product 1
      n
      s...Amazon Product 2
      e

      Youtube Video

      Article 1

      Article 2

This same kind of setup elsewhere (well, without the adsense blocks) does fine for my CB product sites.

But CB products don't really work for this keyword. It is similar to (but isn't):

After reading everyone's comments, I think I may try to go with one OR the other...But yeah, this keyword CPC is about $0.50, so maybe not well-suited to Adsense anyway. Live and learn.

This may end up another bust.

In most cases, if you are going to make any kind of money with Adsense, it needs to be off more than just one keyword, or site.

Maybe try a different affiliate product, dont rely solely on adsense as it will just make peanuts, look for affiliate programs that pay good commission for your type of niche
