My site copied to the letter and layout

I was checking my site in the SERPS (it's one of these Xfactor style sites) an I've noticed a few spots below mine the same keywordname domain with another extension. Of course, I clicked on it, me being curious and all.

Much to my surprise, the site has been completely copied. EVERYTHING has been copied to the letter: the layout, colors, articles, whole content, the whole site.
I've changed in the meantime mine enough to be unique again.

Lesson learned: when I see both the org and net domains, I'll grab them both from now on!

I can't say I've ever been in an industry with so many lazy ass thieves as this one. You could file a DMCA with G and the ISP if they are not in Asia or some turd world place that doesn't respect copyright laws.

Yet another reason not to use the xfactor style template. The copier no doubt figured you did all your homework so they'd just take it. If you had a different theme they could certainly copy everything, but may not have.

Yep, what you say. I'm working on a new layout that is quite different from the Xfactor template, yet keeping the main ideas. They'll then just see it a another regular website and pass it by without giving it another thought. Certainly without thinking of copying it. Adsense has been done long before Xfactor's templates and it will be done long after this craze dies out.

    kislany,

if your website and content has been copied word for word you can contact the websites hosting company and demand they take the site offline .. I know that Hostgator are very willing to do this and will have no problem taking sites which have blatantly copied someone elses hard work offline.

Another good way to screw them is if they have adsense or any other advertising, you can contact the advertising company and tell them of the sites copyright infringement ... it wont take long before their revenue streams dry up!

    Cheers....
