Help Needed w/ google Quality Score

About two months ago, my clicks for one of my niche sites went from an average of about .15 to .50. Needless to say, this seriously cut into my profits.

My page at the time was a plain looking sales letter. I added a header and side graphics, which helped a lot...meaning my conversions improved, but clicks remained the same.

I then added a voice recording. Again, conversions improved but clicks remained the same.

In the last few days, my ads stopped showing...or began showing far less frequently in adwords.

When I went to check it out, I saw that my quality score was 1/10 (poor).

Here's the google explanation:

This page isn't highly relevant.

Based on the relevance of the associated keyword and ad text, page content, and page functionality.

I guess this explanation should be obvious, but I'd hate to spend the time rewriting my sales copy and ending up with the same results.

Can anyone give some good, solid ideas that could help?

This happened to me too as of 9/19 and I'm getting the same note on my best keywords: Landing page not relevant... However, my landing page is filled with the keywords, so I can't understand what's going on. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

This raises alarm bells to me.

Have you gone overboard with keywords? That could well be the case.

Are you over optimizing it, that can actually work against you.

Have you tried linking some articles to the landing page? Doesn't need to be unique content, and you can be creative and hide the link in the copyright message, or use some css styles to hide the underline in the link.

This can have a positive effect.

Or try re-wording the landing page, maybe only using your main keyword once, and other keywords once or twice, but then leave the rest of the content generic.

e.g. If your keyword is Mongoose Mountain Bike, use that in the title, and/or H1 but then discuss mountain bikes in the text, and have a reference to bicycle, maybe some accessory terms (I know it's a landing page).

The other alternative is to have one landing page per keyword, and optimize it for that one keyword. That will likely help a lot.

      Best of luck.

      Cheers

    Hi Brian,

I could be a number of different things causing your problem. If you share one of your problem keywords, ad text and landing page, I'll take a look and let you know what I find.

PM me if you don't want to share with the board.
