Guest Posting may not be as good as you think it is.

I have spent a few hundred dollars on what I thought was high-quality backlinks, then I noticed something very strange, nothing was happening, and I am asking myself, wtf?

The articles I post are fairly good, detailed info, and often 2000-5000 words, so one would think that SEO would be pushing my content up in the serps, not so fast.

I took the time to go back and actually analyze around 5 blogs that had some decent stats, they had good DA, PA, and TF, and the result I got back were not very positive....

Out of 5 blogs I analyzed...
(ones that I have gotten backlinks from)
  • most having no real organic traffic
  • most not using any sort of paid advertising
  • most having very few ranking keywords

Now I ask you, how can a blog that accepts guest posts, looks very clean on the outside, however, be so dirty on the inside, and most of these blogs receive posts either every day, or every few days, and most or all of them were active or had recent activity of posts, and all of these blogs had 100s of blog posts as one would suspect for an active blog.

One thing that comes to mind is that these blogs may be very active, but they are not very active when it comes to actually promote the content they post, and as a result, the site will get almost no ranking keywords.

ultimately, their main goal is selling guest posts, other than that, these blogs have no real value. If you have a high-authority domain with no ranking keywords, then there is no value.

So think about that next time you waste money buying a guest post, ROFL.

There's your answer. In almost all instances, if you have to pay for backlinks, they won't be worth having.

Nothing wrong with guest posting if you're doing it for self-promotion or branding. Otherwise, it's the site that should be paying you for content, not the other way round.

Very True, The importance of guest post is still worth it. And if you are not ready to put your money in the first place, then going for a free guest post could be an effective way. And if you consider going for paid guest blogging make sure they are from you same business niche as yours, they have the good PA, DA & lower in SS.

There are many guest blogging platforms out there in the market, but choosing the suitable one that suits your business domain will drive you more profit in terms of traffic and ranking.

      Thank You!!

I agree with Frank Donovan. If you were able to find a blog that you could pay to place links (a.k.a. guest posts), don't you think Google can also find those same blogs? Google will ignore any and all links (paid or not) from a website that they know is selling links. In fact, you may very well risk a manual penalty if they see a lot of links from places that sell links pointing at your site.

Your story says to me that guest-posting is just as good as I thought it was.

Why did you bother with DA and such?

A page with no backlinks of its own has no juice to pass.

Your page on these sites was just that.

You want those guest posts to help? Get them backlinks. Or get the owners of those sites to link to your page from their homepage.

It is that simple: the page you get the backlink has to have power. The power of the homepage, if the domain is not relevant if it does not link to the page you are getting your link from.

Well, well, well... after all my main point that backlinks are overrated
and the least useful factor in in eye of G's.determination of face value
when it comes to SERP proven again and again.

If you try to analyze what is going on with SERP, you'll find that whatever
SEOs have believed was the foundation like backlinks and even content
lately get replaced with what looks like tea leaves reading approach by G.
as if it plays SERP guessing game thus changing rules of the SEO game.

    G. is basically trying to speculate what we would like to found in SERP and
not what we are trying to find based on specific keywords we are using but on
our location, generic matching, well known sites and something what doesn't
make any sense at least you are regular Joe Public who care less about
    SERP and SEO.

Mark my word very soon SEO would become new form of optimization

Cheap backlinks from link farms or blogs that publish gibberish with links in bulk don't really work. Google doesn't even index most of the content on these sites. You generally end up with spammy links.
When the link is placed within a properly written article, the SEO juice depends on the website's authority. If you acquire links from websites in non-related niche, the benefit will be limited.
"High-quality" links still have great value, provided they are truly high-quality links from good websites in the same broad niche.

Till the time backlinks are not correctly placed, guest post can only bring little bit traffic but not consistent performance. You need to work in different way that will make your page top notch or show some value. Only the content itself will not work. Yes self promotion is good and help you to know about others what they are doing and in return they visit. But if you are definitely looking for consistent approach you need to other key prospective areas also

The only way guest blogging is going to be successful is if you do a full audit of potential opportunities.

How much traffic do they receive from search?
Do their posts get shared on social media?
    How high is their DA?
How many posts do they publish?
Do they allow links to your website on the post or an author bio page?
    Is that link dofollow?
    Is the page followed/indexed?

Like any other SEO campaign, guest posting needs to be thoroughly researched and planned out before beginning.

I agree paid guest posts should not be done, especially if the links or articles do not show up in the search engines or as a backlink in search console.

Beleive it or not natural backlinks and guest posts for free might work better depending on the quality of the sites.

The main rule of guest posting is posting on the websites which actually have real traffic from search engines.
For example, I use Moz to analyse websites and in the overview I see straight away PA/DA (useless), Inbound links and MAINLY organic keywords. If it's 0 for keywords I move on straight away regardless of the amount of links.

Doing guest blogging by reaching out to the same business niche website with good Website authority for the content publication can bring you the relevant traffic as well as boost your websites. But If you started approaching a website that has poor UI, bad spam score, and from a different business domain, that can hurt you badly.

Make sure you are providing updated content with relevant information to your user and audiences.

Guest posting is an effective technique to gain high-quality backlinks. But, you need to make sure that the company on which you apply for guest post must have good DA score and low spam rate.

Also, promote the guest blog relevant to your niche, so that you can gain more good quality traffic.
    Thank you.

How is it effective? This is how it works:

You write a blog post. The site owner puts it up... a brand new page with no links. You get a link (let's assume the best case scenario) without the nofollow tag.

What is good about that, from an SEO point of view?

The page you get the link from has no juice to pass to your site.

Unless you can negotiate that the site owner links to your page from one of their pages that's got a few links of its own, you're wasting time. For most sites, it's best if you get a backlink to your guest-post from their home page.

Most of these sites artificially inflate their DA, because the higher the DA, the more they can charge for their quest posts.

They do this by sending tons of Google redirect links to their sites just in case you're wondering.

Although these Google redirect links inflate the DA of their sites, they have zero value from an SEO point of view.

As in, they don't pass any link juice to your site whatsoever - regardless how high the DA is.

In future, if you're buying any guest posts, I would recommend analysing the backlink profile because a lot of these high DA websites are manipulating their DA so they can bolster the prices of their guest posts.

    [promotional link removed by moderator]

When you start doing this, I think you'll be surprised by the amount of sites doing this to bolster their DA score, I really do.

As DABK said, what is the big deal if you manage to add link to your source?
99% of the time blog uses no-follow because owner doesn't want to have spam
not to mention G. is paying attention to referring links and not to some add one.

Conclusion: Guest Posting thing of the past.
What is still working, mind bagging content everybody want to link. Stuff that went
viral and so hot it's spreading faster than Covid-19 and that will cut G's attention
and guarantee your place on the top in SERP, but then again - while it's hot

      Solution:
Find your niche and be unique and... do yourself a favor and forget Guest Posting

Well it depends on where you get your blog posts, you need to check that they have proper stats before spending you money.

A lot of real high quality blogs accept gust posts.
Remember that MOZ DA and Ahrefs DA can be manipulated, so look at their link profile instead of one single metric.

I have ranked a lot of sites through guest posts, it is by far the most efficient way to get good quality links.

A lot of good blogs accept guest posts for free as well, if the quality you write is good enough

Sometime people just want to get more backlinks form guest post by buying links. But this is not a real way, just go to a site then contact the page owner through email or phone and must see the spam score of the site.
Lots of time we can see DA score is really high with it Spam Score also very high then those site aren't good for seeding links. And check those sites are indexed or not indexed in the search engine.
And the main thing is when you spend lots of bucks then why spammy links.

Well. Backlinks are the backbone of SEO, you can rank super well if you get links from authority sites. Guest posting is a viable marketing strategy, if you do it with content that expertly optimized for conversion you'll get traffic, leads and sales.

You should write between 5-7 guest posts on high trafficked sites.

  • Bloggers need good content. By being a good guest blogger and adding value to someone else's blog, you're going to build relationships with other bloggers. Bloggers make up a large percentage of conversations happening on the Internet.

If the blog has like 10 incoming links and 1K outgoing links obviously is not going to be a great deal.
Most of this blogs don't keep it up. Just buy an expired domain and sit on them until it burns.

I want to mean here if you want to get link juice or quality back link then you must do guest posting. It's a bit time taking but you will get a good result for your website. There are many steps to select the right guest posting sites. If your website is about tech then you must find a tech guest posting site to post your content, next check the OBL and spam score before post anything. Then see if the guest post giving you a do-follow link or not, if yes that's very good. It's not a rule made by me. Many people already noticed the real benefit of guest posts.

According to G. Analytics our AMRAY directory has 102,000 backlinks

          Why not? 2 reasons.
          • After 20 years you have enough publicity to have steady flood of visitors
          • 102,000 is more than enough to stop worry about continue building them.

Even if you get a link without the nofollow tag, it's not very good.

Not from an SEO point of view as your page will be brand new, with no backlinks of its own. Pages with no backlinks have next to no juice to pass, you need thousands and thousands of them to rank for low-medium-competition keywords.

If the site has traffic and your page floats at the top of their posts for a few days, you may get some of that traffic, and then, it's good. If it has no or little traffic, or the traffic is not interested in what you sell, it's not good.
