Hi all. I am working on selling two products. One product in an info course that I have created along with a partner on mine. The other is a natural pain reliever that I will be selling for a client. Both products sell for about $29.00 to $39.00. My question is can I do well selling these products using only PPC. I intend to find lower volume long tailed keywords for both but worried that there might not be enough volume.
Thanks in advance.

Some people only use PPC for marketing and bank with numbers you wouldn't believe. If you're just starting out with PPC, then don't expect to get rich quick.

There's a ton to learn with PPC, and you HAVE TO HAVE tracking on all your keywords.

I have a brick and mortar local business that I have promoted with PPC. The business lives on descresionary income so it's not doing that great right now. That's why I am looking at other things do supplement my income with.
By the way do you have a preferred analytic solution that you recommend. I have used Google analytics but was looking for a server side solution.

You're not gonna know for sure until you test the waters. On the info product a much better business model would be to have your front-end product and try to at least beak-even or lose just a little money. Then have an upsell for anywhere from $49 to $99 that compliments the info product nicely. Could be Videos or Audio or the physical product delivered to your door.

If your copy is decent you should get at least a 1% conversion rate (that's the Internet average) on the front-end and upwards of a 50% conversion rate or more is possible on the upsell.

What that means is you can break-even or lose a little getting customers on the front-end and make all your money on the back end. The cool part is now you'll have a buyers list you can sell more stuff to. Either create more products for your buyers or send them some recommendations for similar affiliate products.

Also you can get more volume by using all of the big 3 search engines... The Big G, Yahoo, and Bing / MSN.

For tracking your keywords you have several options available. My favorites are Prosper202 (self hosted) / Tracking202 (service) both are FREE and Affiliate Prophet it costs $97 for the base package and another $147 for the Pro add-on via an upsell. For analytics I like Piwik.

I actually use all 3 at the same time for most of my campaigns.

There's a ton of benefits to each... Since you're a product owner or have access to the entire sales process it's much easier to use all of them. You can automate all your tracking which is really cool.

If you have questions feel free to ask...

      Hope that helps...

      Thanks,

      Derek

I wouldn't just roll out with PPC, especially with your products being at $29.00. I look at PPC as a new added stream of traffic. It should not be the backbone of your IM strategy unless your selling products in the thousands of dollars.

Do some keyword/market research. Optimize your landing page with good on page seo (include the keywords you intend to target), add your privacy policy, terms of use, about us, contact , home sections to the landing page . If you have the resources target one keyword per landing page both in seo and in your copy. This will help you with your quality score and reducing your cpc but at the same time will help with your search engine rankings. PPC can be a great tool but first put in the time to research how to use it properly, but also focus on other marketing methods. Think of PPC as one piece of the puzzle - at the same time think long term and dedicate some time to search engine optimization.
