Google informs publishers that shop visits data will no longer be reported in Google Analytics. Data generation will cease at the end of October, although past data will remain available.

This announcement was delivered quietly through an update to a Google Analytics help page.

Charles Farina of Adswerve discovered the change and published his discovery on LinkedIn:

The notification states:

"On 10/31/2022, Store Visits reporting will be discontinued. As of this date, new Store Visits reporting will not be generated. Historical Store Visits reporting will remain available. Please reach out to your account manager if you have any questions."
In Google Analytics, store visits are an estimate of the number of individuals that visited a physical location after seeing its website.

Google collects store visit data by tracking the movements of customers who have location history enabled on their phones.

Only companies having a Google Analytics property linked to a Google Ads account can see shop visit reports.

This implies that companies will not lose data because Google Ads will continue to report on shop visits after Google Analytics is removed.

    Chime in,
Half a truth,if you look here: ( https://support.google.com/analytics...n-this-article ) you see the already stated statement...

"On 10/31/2022, Store Visits reporting will be discontinued. As of this date, new Store Visits reporting will not be generated. Historical Store Visits reporting will remain available. Please reach out to your account manager if you have any questions."

    BUT

Above that statement, you missed the...

"This article is about Universal Analytics properties, which will stop processing data on July 1, 2023 (July 1, 2024 for Analytics 360 properties). If you haven't already, start using a Google Analytics 4 property"

Universal Analytics is going to be completely shut down July 1 2023, but prior to that 10/31/2022 the Store Visits feature is being removed.

This feature ( Store Visits ) is NOT being removed from GA4 ( Google Analytics 4 ) the replacement version of Universal Analytics ( or as I call it the OG Analytics )
