Linking to blog post or main domain?

I have a question that has been causing me a headache.
I`ve just opened a new WP blog and I`ve bought Angela`s link package...
So, If I try to rank good with certain keywords with, Is it as powerful to backlink to my main domain like "mydomain.com/blog" or to blog post like "mydomain.com/blog/should_I_Link_here"
How search engines see blogs in this situation and how much weight should I put linking to a main domain vs blog posts?
