I've been at back linking for 3 months now. I've made around 300 profile links, bookmarked, RSS feed, pinged and wrote around 30 articles and bookmarked them as well as added them to RSS and pinged. I even started using SENuke for the last 3 weeks article spinning my butt off with even more submissions, bookmarking, RSS feed and pinging. If I look on Google with link: www. mydomain .com then it shows different number of links. It shows 1800 but then when you go through the pages it stops at only 180. A few of my keywords are ranking on the first page but I'm confused as to how if I'm only showing so few back links. Yahoo is also showing my site to have 270 links but when I go through the pages again it stops short and only shows around 140. I've spent so much time, effort and money into this and can't get any straight answers. Google webmaster tools show that I have 620 links and Yahoo site explorer shows only 325. Please help.

Don't worry about the discrepancy in those numbers. All the backlink finding methods are notorious for not showing them all. Just because Google and Yahoo only show you a limited number does not mean that is all they themselves see and use to judge your page.

I guess what I'm trying to figure out is what strategy is working best for me and I can't judge this due to not being able to see all of my links and where they come from. If I could figure that out then I'll know which direction I want to go with my link building campaigns. I also don't like being left in the dark and not knowing if I'm wasting time with one method or the other.

Unfortunately, everyone has to deal with this. I know 6 months ago I had like over 800 backlinks at Google Analytics and now Google Anlytics says I have 60 !!

But I am making twice as much money now. So go figure.

Google and Yahoo reports are NOT all accurate and they are constantly changing this and that.

Like people said just concentrate on your end and in the long run it will all work out.

Bottom line is measure your Backlinkk progress by how much Traffic and Conversions you get. AND HOW MUCH YOU PUT IN YOUR WALLET AT THE END OF THE DAY !!

I wish it was all laid out like you say it should be. That would give us better direction no doubt . But it is not and we have to work with what is giving to us.

So dont lose focus and just move on !!

One really good Idea is to test differrent methods on different subpages. Also, make sure you track you kw positions. That's what really counts in the end.

  • If you look at what you are doing you'll realize that the key to making money is not QUANTITY it's QUALITY... they look a lot alike don't they?

But they are the furthest thing apart.

Money follows value. Linking doesn't make any difference unless the links are quality.

I have a site that ranks on Page one for a very competitive business to business keyword phrase and it probably doesn't have 22 links in total. But the links I do have are damn good ones.

Do you think it is quicker to make 1,000 crappy spun articles that will never be read or 4 really good articles that get read over and over.

Which do you think Google values more? which do you think people value more?

If you could have 1 52" Samsung Flat Panel TV or 10 15" Funai Tv's that both cost an equal amount which would you choose?

I only link to very high authority sites so I'm still asking how to be able to track my efforts so I know exactly which are working best for me. Thanks for the somewhat basic answers. I'm already ranked fairly high for various keywords but don't know exactly which strategy is the one that got me there.

Just build backlinks as well as submitting your sites on bookmarking sites it will work fine at the end of the day.
