Ranking First Page for Privacy and Contact

I just set up a brand new site...got it indexed and is on the first page of Google for Privacy Policy and Contact page...not the home page.

It only has three pages, I am using wordpress, and a static first page. No posts yet.

It's a sales page only.

What I am doing wrong to rank for those two pages and not the home page?

I have only had this happen one other time...and I couldn't figure out it that time
either.

Your feedback would be so appreciated.

When you say "rank those two pages", I assume you mean they are ranking for the keyword you wish the home page would rank for?

If so, I'm sure there are differences in the pages' content which could affect the rankings. But without actually seeing them and knowing what they are ranking for, I'm just guessing.

Agreed without seeing them kinda hard to say. I'm guessing the main page has a bunch of pictures and little text compared to the privacy policy page. More text with higher density keyword equals higher ranking to a certain extent.

I've had the same thing happen to me, not sure why it does this.

I guess this thread got moved to the adsense forum because it mentions privacy policy...but the site I built is using the Easy Privacy Policy plugin because it has a terms of use, and other disclosures. This site is only a sales page and does not have any adsense.

      My question really is:

Why would my Policy page (Easy Privacy Policy plugin) and Contact Page (Spam Free plugin) for the contact form, get indexed and put on the first page of google?

The home page is a standard sales page which has my SEO optimized keywords. But I am ranking for the SEO keywords with my privacy policy and Contact. Those pages are NOT SEO'd for my keywords.

Is it something that I am missing in the All in One SEO Plugin? I filled out the blog title, the blog description using my keyword optimized description and added the keywords that I wanted to be ranked for.

I am ranking for the keyword phrase that I optimized for...BUT ONLY My privacy policy and Contact Page are showing in an indented fashion.

I have built hundreds of Wordpress sites, so I am not a newbie when it comes to that..is this a Google Indexing phenomenon? Or did I do something wrong?

I can't share the URL....my client asked me not to.

      Thanks so much,
      Karen
