Why AdSense sucks on paid article directories

So... I always felt that paid accounts on any article directories...should be without AdSense ads...

Anyway...as an experiment...I decided to use EZA as a guinea pig for placement ads on the content network doing some PPC...

Anyone doing this probably already knows....you get massive clicks...from article directories...I never really tried placements on them much. Jeremy and I don't do much PPC.

So anyway...I have had spikes around 2% clicks versus the impressions...now that may not sound like much until you think of it this way...

That was about 4800 impressions...over maybe 48 hours.
So you are looking at approximately 100 article resource boxes that weren't clicked...

Knowing how targeted article traffic is...they often lead to sales. So that is 100 chances that were never obtained by article authors to make a sale.

I just find that rather interesting when I have seen article directory owners stating they don't really make any money with AdSense in the past. When in reality that isn't the case for high traffic directories.

So anyway my post isn't about AdSense being removed from an Article directory...My post is about paid accounts should not have AdSense displayed on their article pages. Which is an awfully easy thing to implement...

I am just one of those people that likes to test various things...Even though I rarely submit articles anymore...So it doesn't really affect me. But if your whole business is wrapped around Article Marketing...

1) It shouldn't be...
2) Just a heads up...

P.S.> Not knocking EZA I don't really care if they run AdSense on paid accounts or not. I don't own the site so I could care less... They are just one of the most well known so I used them for the test.

Also a word of warning to people wanting to start out with PPC...watch your budgets LOL.

Laterzzzz

Those 100 clicks aren't necessarily clicks the authors would have received had the ads not been there. Maybe the articles weren't compelling enough to hold readers' attentions, so they clicked an ad to look elsewhere for their solution?

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

I fully agree Donald... Anyone that has a paid article directory and uses adsense or other ads on the site should be someone you should stay away from.

If it is paid then it should be 100% ad free...

Interesting test Don, thanks for sharing.

It goes to show that there can be alot of lost viewers/customers from article directories, if you include the other distractions too, such as "most viewed" and "most published" etc. there is a major leakage of your viewers!
