According to Matt Cutts, a lot of people at Google like fast websites. They believe that the web should be fast and, come 2010, they will give those fast sites a little "bonus."

So, what host offers the fastest speeds? LOL

He suggests using the tools at:

WebPageTest.org to test your page speeds and Google's new tool, "Closure" to help bring up your JS faster.

I would recommend your own dedicated server, most shared hosts oversell their servers(cram a ton of sites on them), to make a bigger profit which reduces the speed.

If you get your own dedicated server at a quality datacenter you control what is on the server which will tremendously help the speed.

I think its a good idea, I hate waiting on slow sites for like 10 or 20 sec before anything shows up when I click on a search result. The internet is fast and I want my information fast not sit around for it. Dedicated server will run you about $100 - $150 a month if you want a good dedicated server that is with enough backbone, bandwidth and support.

thanks for the tip..I try to keep videos and anything else that could slow up the page loading off the first page anyways...so it should help me out without me having to change anything...my front page loads in milliseconds!

What's interesting is that it took a full 1.5 seconds longer to load my sites that have Adsense than the ones that don't. They have the same templates, and without Adsense the site loaded in 1 second. With Adsense it took 2.44 - 2.46 seconds.

This is because your website has to contact adsense and pull down the data to your site so you're having to deal with the speed of the adsense servers as well as the speed of your own servers.

Yes, I know how it all works. I find it interesting that Google would base their algorithm on something that can be impacted by their own services that they provide.

I noticed another difference. The site that just had Adsense was only .02 seconds faster than the one that has Adsense and Google Analytics.

I agree. A dedicated server and that is what I've got :-) Of course, not everyone can afford one of those or even WANTS to pay for one each month. I think just optimizing your site and graphics sizes etc should help anyway.
