I'm not much of a forum poster, but how can I not say thanks for all the info on this site.

Registered (to WF) last week, read, read, and more reading, saw clickbump's thread, went to xfactor's thread, did some research, bought a few domains for a niche I already knew about, 2 days later #5 in Google. Not to mention I let the domains propagate for a day.

It just happened, so no money yet (adsense), but we will see...

Thanks again for all this great info,
Matt

Congratulations, that is quite a feat.

What exactly did you do to get indexed as quickly as you did?
Just some simple article back linking/social bookmarking?

I am also following the click bump thread.
However, I am still waiting for my first site to index (has been exactly a week).

I am about as impatient as they come. Since I was already in the niche with an ecommerce site, about 10 months ago I had set up a blogger blog for people to land on coming from craigslist. The blog was nothing more than a lousy landing page.

I linked to my new domain from that blog and for some reason it got indexed within a few hours. It was luck, since I still have 3 domains out there not indexed. I don't want to leave a footprint so I will be patient for the next ones. I just couldn't wait to see if it would work.

How many adsense impressions are you getting per day? Maybe you could try improving their clickability?

Not to rain on your parade - you may have achieved a #5 ranking because the niche isn't that competitive. Then again - I could be wrong - and I hope I am.

Time will tell if you get some good traffic - best of luck!!!

No it's not that competitive, only 450,000 competing pages. The point was how fast it could rank. I'm not bragging I was just floored by how fast it was done. It will be dancing for a while I'm sure.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing.. the competition isn't that great and it makes one wonder what's the volume like for the KW that the site is ranking for too..

1500 searches a month. Like I said, it is not that competitive, I just wanted to try it out in the niche I am well familiar with. It was easy to write content for it.

  • Check back in 2 weeks see if you are still ranking. Google likes to mix in a lot of "new" for a brief period of time.

Will do. I was in spot #2 for a while today, then fell back to #11 where I am at presently. I just cant figure out the dance. I don't think I will bother trying to figure it out. I will just keep going with what I'm doing for now.

    Well done!

It may dance for a while yet.

Did you get much traffic at spot #5? You should be able to judge from that position how much traffic you can expect.

To be honest, it ranked so fast I didn't get google analytics set up for it until last night. Besides, from the way it's jumping around I can't tell if it was there for very long or not.

I will post some results in a week or 2. For now I can't tell you too much about it.

That's interesting result. For me I've never got so fast indexed for my niche sites, usually within one week. During this one week I do lots of backlinking like articles submission and Angela's links and social bookmarking and when I get indexed I'm usually in the 1-4 positions. I like it this way because then this position is stronger. But I guess you will do some backlinking now, so it is still good.

The best thing is when you rank your sites like that for an article or somthing like that and leverage that keyword to bring in traffic from that property to your website.

Congrats on your ranking and hopefully you'll have tons more =) A site I created and put my SEO people on are making it climb up and up and up in Google, and it's getting TONS of weird long tail traffic, but it's interesting to see how it's improving from page 4 to page 3 to page 2 and now #10 on page 1.

This is a huge clickbank product keyword and is converting nicely. So SEO is definintely something to go for, although I've had #1 rankings that were useless because of the low volume of searches... It's important that your main keyword gets about 10,000-15,000 searches per month at least or you'll not get too much traffic.

Like one of my sites is ranked #4 and the keyword is searched for about 8,600 times according to Google, yet I get about 3-15 visitors per day, only... About 300 per month, but if I climb to #3 I think that will drastically increase, hopefully. It's still very new, about 3 weeks old.

    - Chris

Now you're the top of the small niche, you are one that needs to expand it!

Expand by getting to #1, then also have great content. If that niche ever explodes, guess who will be the top dog and the one out of work?

To rank on page 1 against 450000 competing sites is an excellent achievement - assuming there are 450000 sites under "quotes"..

How many competing sites for your keyword are there under "quotes"?

To rank so quickly with no backlinks suggests to me that there are probably fewer that 5000 REAL competing sites.
