I don't get it. I submitted my 3 wordpress site to many social bookmarking sites a 5 days ago, pinged them all using ping of matic, and did some article back linking.

It's been like a week now, and I'm still not indexed yet. Now, I know I'm going to get index sooner or later, but I want to know how people are getting indexed in 48 hours using the same method. Am I missing something?

What kind of content you have on your sites?
Maybe google marked you as a spam or maybe you will need more time to index them, it's deepens sometimes that happen sooner sometimes later

There are loads of resources that you can use.. I usually get indexed in about 36 hours

I have a site I use, ( Is My Site Indexed? - The easiest way to check if your site is indexed in Google ) even if you aren't indexed when you check it creates a page that google spiders pretty quickly, in addition it creates anchor text backlinks and shows you any possible errors.

I just had an interesting result from this tool. I tried it with a site i am still waiting to be indexed (created in w/p last Wednesday) and as expected it showed the site not indexed.I was hoping using this tool might speed the process as expressed above.
However, I tested for a site that I created over a month ago which not only is indexed but ranks number 1 on google for a certain KW. Despite this the above tool tels me this site is not indexed- no other errors mentioned. Very strange.
I think I'll stick to using site:domainname.com in google search
Another very useful free tool is SEO Tools - Search Engine Optimization Tools This gives kw research, competetitor analysis, all sorts. No affiliation
        All the best,

Great tip clickbump (don't know what else to call you )! I started doing that today...we'll see if it works as well for me as it does for you.

One slight modification of your method that might prove useful. Even on forums where they do not allow you to not underline links you can still do the following and no one will probably ever be the wiser. Nor is what I am advocating below against the rules at any of the forums where I have tried it through I would still keep it under your hat so as not to draw attention to it.

Here's a sample signature link complete with bb code.

      --------------------------------------------------------------
Get a web development quote at www.mydomain.com.
      -------------------------------------------------------------

Instead of "Get a web development quote" you can use whatever phrase you want that goes along with the visible link. The important thing is to close the sentence with a period.

A space won't work nor will a " " work either on most forums.

The signature will appear to be created by a really unsophisticated person in that people will think you included the period in your link by mistake like a real simpleton who should have known better. Most probably won't even notice it.

If they hover over most of the link they will see the main site you are linking to. It's only when they hover over the actual period that they will realize that the period links out to another site.

Most won't bother to hover over the period at all.

You can change links in your signature whenever you want to quickly get a different url indexed by Google through that forum.

You can use the XML sitemap plugin for WordPress. It will produce your sitemap for you and tell Google and others every time it updates.

Also, are you sure that you are not blocking search engines. Some default installs of WordPress do that.

Good point, I believe this is the default as of 2.8.5 and its been carried over in 2.8.6

To check it (and change it) go to Settings > Privacy in your WP admin

I also second create a sitemap and submit it to Google. My new sites are normally indexed in 1 - 2 days

Also don't forget you can have Google send you an email when you are indexed - use google alerts, like this

        site:www.Your-Site-here.com

Bingo - you get an email when u are indexed. Also use alerts for your keyword/phrase, google will send you an email when you hit their database....

IMHO Google alerts are a MASSIVELY under-utilized resource, you can spy on competitiors, track your progress etc etc

Eeek - my wife is shouting at me to get off the computer!!!!

        Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

    - Digg your site

    - Add a site map

    - Make sure your permalinks are set to keywords

    - Post relevant comments with a link back to your site from a couple of blogs.

    - Stumble those blogs.

    - Wait - It will happen ...............

I don't know where I heard this but...

I've been told that google does not treat all new sites the same. If the kw's of your site are in a highly competive, abused, and spammed, niche, I've heard that it takes longer to get out of the sandbox. Also, are you using a .info domain that are often abused? I've noticed they seem to take a little more effort to get indexed.

Interesting... That seems like a good way of getting your site indexed. But with wordpress you need to go into the settings>writing choose at the very bottom "privacy settings" and put it to "be recognized", then when you have done so,

search for "ping list" and put the ones from result #1 into settings>writing at the bottom, add the All in 1 SEO pack and Googel XML sitemap, that will get you indexed guaranteed as soon as you post it'll be a couple hours, sometimes a few days.

I find it sad that I did everything above already except for clickbump's method. Privacy settings, site maps, submission, etc.

I guess my wordpress is bugged or something. Seems like I'll just to regular HTML for the time being.

Who cares about getting your site indexed? Everyone stresses so much about this.

Just build your links, it will all happen naturally, as will your rankings, OVER TIME...

Here are ways that helps your site get index:

Build Links - back link helps your site get index.
Search Engine Submissions - submit only once.
Creating a sitemap - it helps your sub-pages get index.
    Ping your site.

Make sure you have a Sitemap.xml file in place and just be patient. Google doesn't have a time period for indexing any pages.

If your content isn't scraped from other sites, your site isn't just another affiliate replicate and have some solid content uploaded you should be fine. Keep on producing content pages. You can always use them on other theme related websites

Roughly, here are the steps I follow for each new site I launch:
    1. submit sitemap to google then ping site
    2. digg it
    3. bookmark it
    4. submit rss
    5. have a pina colada (or whatever foo-foo drink you desire in private)
    6. build the next site
    7. go to step 1

As others have advised, don't sweat the indexing, just go build more if that's your approach. If you're only intending to have those 3 wordpress sites, then keep adding content to it. Before you know it, you should be indexed. When you add content, make sure wordpress is set up to auto ping. I also bookmark my new content (posts or pages) and submit rss.

i have always had the best of luck building a few links on busy sites, this seems to help get indexed a lot faster. sites like this one and even hubpages do the trick. Is there a reason that you don't have your link in your signature here? That could be part of your problem!!!

everybody pointed out the obvious ones, social bookmarking.
But i have found twitter to get me indexed the fastest. sometimes jumptags. wierd - i know.
    and facebook also works.
Just remember that the busier the site the more the Google spiders visit.

  • I would tell you a simple thing...You have a website, you don't know how much value it has. But every crawler knows once it is online. Even you have submitted links over internet, your website do not get indexed?

    There are several reasons -

    - Nothing new content
    - Targetting overloaded niche
    - Something wrong with site uploading.

There are many who would say you what to do but i would prefer to advice you first look over your site and calculate its value.

here is an interesting fact.. i went to the site that was suggested to check if i was indexed.
some of mine from a day ago where and a particular site that i only did to get indexed really fast is not.

now here is a very interesting fact i am running a thread about sub domains in the seo forum as i am obsessed about knowing more.
the fact is that if i enter a sub-domain into that index search tool it comes up ok.
    good
but if i enter a sub-domain/blog address it tells me to enter a valid URL.
so maybe some of my sub-domain blogs are not getting indexed at all.
now i really have to do some research.
    oh dear.

Someone mentioned recently that WP have changed things slightly. When you setup a new blog you have to change the privacy settings to enable the search engines to crawl and index your site. Not sure if that is true or not?!

As for checking the indexing status of any of my sites pages, or profile pages and articles etc I just run it through my app which tells me exactly which ones are not in Googles index. Big time saver.

Adding links to your signature used to work wonders for getting pages indexed but no longer has the same effect.

The best way to increase your search engine ranking is to get incoming links to your website from websites with a related subject matter. If the incomming links have the text you are trying to rank for as the "anchor text" of the link, it will help you to rank higher for that search term.

  • Hmmm.. Its sometimes difficult to get your website indexed in Google even after getting so many backlinks and uploading quality contents in website. If still you are not in Google then you are surely loosing everything.

Submit your website in forums, only in quality articles directories, ask for bookmark exchange and if yet you are not successful then submit your website directly in Google.

But I got my last blog indexed this way:

    1. I made an account to scribd(dot)com
    2. Linked back to my website in the profile.
    3. Pinged the profile url.
    4. Submitted a plr article to scribd with a link to my website.
    5. Pinged the plr article url

The site was indexed in couple of minutes. I also had sitemap plug-in installed and activated on my blog.

I am finding this more and more often that some domains appear to be banned right from the beginning and there is almost no way of getting round it.

On further examination, it appears that they had been registered by someone before who did not renew them and let them drop. It is quite possible the domain was already banned by Google.

You can check out your domain registration history by using whois.sc

However, 5 days is no unusual and it is likely that they will be indexed soon.

Observe your postings whether they're unique or copied from any other resources. After posting them on wordpress try to post them in digg, facebook and twitter. Then start social bookmarking for those postings at folkd, propeller, reddit, delicious etc. Ping your blogs at pingler and pingomatic. Your blogs will definitely get indexed soon but be careful regarding your posts! Don't make it too much spammy looks with lots of keywords or links and obviously again I'm saying try to write unique and informative content what Google actually likes.
