Backlinking to home page and SEO

Hi all,
I was wondering if creating backlinks to my homepage for SEO purposes also helps the different pages in the same site getting better search engine ranking??

I am not sure i succeeded explaining myself so here is an example:

creating backlinks to mysite.com

got to anything with the search engine ranking for:
mysite.com/page1,
mysite.com/page2,
mysite.com/page3,
etc.?:confused:

    Ultimately you want a mix of links both to your home page and the internal pages. Home page-only links looks very bad for SEO purposes :-)

    Yes, it's essential you get backlinks for all of the webpages instead of just the homepage.

      Send most links to the domain/main page. Have all links on this page,
      or as much as you can. Link juice flows. Also, have the same links on
      each page.

      For large sites you have to break it up. Like 100+ links.

      My way doing things is to have all pages look the same, just different
      content. Each page has:
      Header graphic hyperlinked to the main page.
      Left (or right) side bar with all article links, privacy policy, etc.
      So, all pages link to home and all articles.

      I don't have any 100+ article sites. If I did, I would break them
      into two 50 links sections exactly like the above, but with one link
      going to the main page #2.

      I link to the main page ~70% of the time. ~30% goes to other articles.
      Your efforts should be mostly to the main page, however, if you do not
      have time. Your site gains authority, your articles swallow the long tail,
      especially how your anchor text looks for each article.
