Hello all

I have a blog. It's nearly 3 months old. It was indexed in google quite well. But now, the main homepage is not indexed. Though the links to posts and pages are indexed.

When I put the query "info: mysite.com", I get this:

Sorry, no information is available for the URL mysite.com
Please tell if my site is banned from Google or is it similar to "Google Dance"?

Please help!

Thanks
K Goel

1st.. there should not be a space between info: and mysite.com, so that could be an issue.

what happens when you type site:mysite.com or just mysite.com? Does the home page come up in this case?

Essentially, banning typically works like this:
if yoursite.com is banned, then everything on that domain is banned.
yoursite.com/subsite/ can be banned, but this doesn't necessarily apply to yoursite.com and the same goes for subdomains. A sub can get banned and the top level domain is ok. Their is a hierarchy that google seems to follow when it comes to banning.

I've never heard of a domain getting banned, and still allowing pages on that domain to be indexed. If you didn't mess up the query, try my suggestions, and still find that you are banned, please post back.
I've never heard of this happening before.

      Hey

      The query is fine.

The homepage doesn't show up. All other posts and pages do.

If it is, you might want to check your privacy setting in 'settings' >> 'privacy' and make sure the first option is checked. The second option is the default selection and it will put a no follow code on your blog stopping it from getting indexed or indexed very slowly.
      The settings are all fine.

      One more thing.

I had another domain earlier and I had bought another domain. I used the blog on domain 1 on domain 2. I had completely ended the blog from domain 1.

Just give it time, it will be indexed soon enough. You could always fire some backlinks at it to speed up the process.

would you mind giving me the site you think was banned or penalized? so I can have a better idea on what is going on with your site.

I also haven't heard about main page not indexed by google but the sub pages are indexed, it's a very rare case which I think doesn't exist.

I guess there was just a mistake with what you did, after I have input this on google -

      info:www.yoursite.com
your mainpage shows up so there's no problem with it I think.

      also I tried..
      site:www.yoursite.com
I can see the list of the indexed pages of your site..

      see for yourself..

      regards
      Janice

@janicejan: Actually the title of the main page shows my previous domain name. And, the new one had already been indexed.

Go to google and type in - site:<name of your site> without the <> and you'll see all the pages that the engine has indexed for you. Your homepage should be listed in the links.

Ok...Here I am explaining the matter again.

The site which is troubling me is the first one in my sig. I had this site under the domain which is the second one in the sig.

    Now see this:
    Google

The homepage link is fine, but the title and description is of the old domain name.

    This is the problem.

Install Google XML Sitemaps, and All in One SEO, set those up and ping your site and you should see the changes you want.
