If all things are equal (no backlinks, etc..), which would rank higher: .info or blogspot ?

Which car goes faster when it doesn't have any gasoline, a Ferrari or a Ford Focus?

If you don't have links, you don't have gas for your site.

That is obvious BUT not the question. Which one is the Ferrari and which one is the Focus? That is the question. The comparison does NOT work either. I have ranked many blogqspot and .infos in small competition keywords. I was asking the question in order to get feedback from those that have used both!

I have used both and they're both equally dead in the water without links. You simply can't remove the links from the equation if you want to rank for decent keywords and stay ranked.

If you were to take a Blogger blog and a WordPress blog on a .info, did a few posts where a ping was done they would get indexed within about a week in most cases. They may even temporarily rank for long tail keywords due to them being new content, especially if the domain/subdomain name was keyword specific. But, within 6 weeks, they would be nowhere to be found in Google unless the competition for that particular keyword is very, very, low.

In other words, you need links. That's what makes the difference.

I hear ya ... I am dealing with extreme low competition in this case. I will backlink too but was curious what experience others had with .info or blogspot.

A .info TLD has the same SERP value as any other. They're simply going cheap at the moment because they've never been so popular and haven't been selling. I have many and they rank well though. I wouldn't stay on Blogspot cos you don't have ownership and have little identity imo.
