Is it true that Blogger blocks blogs from the SERPS?

I have a blog that was created a long time ago but it hasn't been indexed as of yet.

I've been reading that the current robots.txt file for all blogs purposly tells the spiders NOT to crawl their blogs....and I've read that you can't edit the robots.txt file...so.....how do you get around this so that your blog will be indexed into the SERPS?

Thanks.

My experience has been that Google doesn't give any special treatment to blogger blogs. It's as if they are overcompensating so that they can't be accused of favoritism. Again, my opinion only.

I have several of these that I have ignored and they don't rank for anything. Some have gone from PR1 and 2 to n/a simply because I abandoned them. The ones I look after; however, seem to do fine. The only difference is that I add content once in a while (and the odd backlink).

They do, however, crawl/index them right out of the box, so to speak.

last I checked, they had an option that you could click in the admin panel to prevent indexing. but i am pretty sure that they are indexable, otherwise so many people would not be using them.

If you are talking about Blogger blogs (blogspot.com), then your info is incorrect. I just had two Blogger blogs indexed last week...they were both indexed within 2 - 3 days of creating them and submitting them to RSS aggregators.

But, if you are talking about WordPress blogs, then there is a setting in WordPress that is set to block search spiders when WordPress is installed. Look under Settings --> Privacy and you will find this setting.
