Hi all!

Researching competitor PPC campaigns - how do you do it? What apps do you use, or more importantly, what free websites do you use?

I ask because I used to have a link to a website (I beleive it had serp in the name?) that you could enter a URL and get a readout of PPC ads currently running, and how they rank for different keywords.

Any one know what this site was? Or a similar PPC competitor analysis site?

Thanks Heaps
Matt

    Thanks, they help.

The site I went to actually shown you the Adwords ads competitors were running. So I could type in a domain, and it would show all the different Adwards ads that domain was using over the past X amount of months.....

  • most keyword research tools give you an indication of what your competitors are doing. For example, the google keyword tool gives you an indication of the volume of competition.Works well for me.

Those kinds of sites are, in my opinion, virtually useless. Instead of trying to find out what competitors are doing, why don't you create and optimize your campaigns that work best for YOU. I think your time and money should be best spent elsewhere. These services can't know what your competitor is doing without having access to their account and I'm pretty sure they don't unless they are Google themselves. The information these services can give you is only the tip of the tip of the iceberg.

I think they jsut monitor google Adwords and create a record of all PPC ads used for a certain site.

I know I should focus on developing my own ads - but every good business should be monitoring their competition.

i definitely recommend spyfu. they have some free tools but the paid subscription is definitely worth it if you're going to be doing a lot of competitive analysis.
