I just reached # 1 on Google for ALL my keywords (5 of them that I was targeting) some quick questions for you # oners.

1. Is it normal to rank for all the keywords that you are targeting?

I am excited and doing the google dance
#google

Completely situational, if your targeting small niches then sure its normal if you done everything correctly. (You obviously have.) If you was going after big keywords then not so normal but impressive

Ok if it's cure acne or lose weight well done...

BUt if it's left handed pecan pies ...well it's not so good

What i am trying to say is that for some keywords that have very low traffic it's easy to rank.. while others that have good traffic it can be a bit of work

I am targeting a hot Christmas toy. Even ranked for the 1 word toy's name (where everyone is competing on adwords I am 1 out of 500,000

I guess we'll see if the site converts

It´s a great achievemnt. Congrats on that. The downside is your target has a relatively short life span ( I would think you will not be as interested in it after xmas).

What you can try and do is build for the future. is there a way your targeted keywords can relate to a bigger niche that has a longer life span? If so, you could create a campaign for such niche and use yur top ranked xmas sites to direct traffic to that new campaign with a harder keyword, leveraging what you just achieved with this one. Kind of like building a link wheel.

If you can mutiply that over time you can start thinking about legitimate link pyramids (standard link pyramids nowadays are built by black hat operators and add little value but to themselves).

In any case you achieved an excellent target. Once again, congratulations.

Getting number one rankings for non-competitive keywords is normal if you have implemented proper seo tactics.

For more competitive keywords, you will have a harder time ranking.

So it all depends on the keywords and the competition.

In any case, you seem to have done a good job.

That sucks! Perhaps a few .edu & .gov backlinks can help?

I just got the #1 spot on Google for the first time too today. It's awesome to know that you feel as good as I do right now!

But, I think I'll fall eventually because my keywords are very competitive. So that only leaves both of us one choice, keep creating content and keep promoting til we drop.

A quick question though - how can you be number 1 AND doing the Google dance?

You have to make sure your cache is clean too. Sometimes when you are building a site and you visit it multiple times, your browser will store it and whenever you search for your keyword it will show on your computer that is number one, but if you check at any keywords software checker like seoserp.com, you will see that you are not even closed to number one! it happen to me...I was so happy about my position on the serps but then reality strucked.

Like others have said, it really depends on what your niche is that you are targeting. Either way well done, it is all a learning experience, time to move on to something bigger!
