Building Adsense Sites and one day doing it full time and quitting my day job....worst idea ever?

Do you guys ever worry about building up your empire and waking up one day to having your Adsense Account Banned or suspended?

I've been thinking of having several sites to rely solely on Adsense income but a few colleagues of mine warned me about going this route because it would likely be the day I tell my job where to shove it that my Adsense Account would be banned..or suspended

What are your comments on this area? Could my account be banned is i followed the Adsense TOS correctly but was maybe click bombed or mysteriously banned?

Thanks

Given that many people had their Adwords account disabled without warning (or cause) today, your concerns about relying strictly on Adsense for income are valid. That's why it is best to build multiple streams of income within your business. Adding affiliate links, creating and selling a product, using multiple advertising networks, etc., will add diversity to your income so that if you lose one income stream, you already have others that you can fall back on.

Your account could get banned for any number of reasons- some that may be beyond your control.

Adsense is a wonderful program but don't count on it 100%.

I wouldn't quit any job until I had at least 3-4 steady online sources of income. Remember, the one thing NO company can take away from you is what you've learned. If you can generate traffic money is EVERYWHERE (meaning hundreds of programs and options to choose from)!

I'm also in the same situation.I'm planning to become a full time blogger.I think once the site attracts lot of traffic, there are many ways to other than adsense.

The good news is that the moment your account gets canceled you can try to find out what you did wrong, fix it, and sign up for a new account under a different name. A parent or spouse for example.

Also, if you have an empire of money making sites, you can sell them to someone else and make a ton of money to finance a new business venture.

If any of your sites are based around products, you can start selling the products themselves from the site instead of adsense.

Its a bit to worry about, but if your account gets canceled its not the end of the world. You can still make money one way or another from your work.

      Hope that helps.

  • When you build adsense sites it's prudent to make sure that there is affiliate opportunity as well. So if something goes awry you can switch.

MFA is a recipe for disaster. And diversification is always a smart strategy.

I make a lot of money with Adsense, but I never build MFA only sites.

If you have an adsense site, you have an affiliate site, CPA site and many other opportunities. Build a list, google can't take that away from you

Adsense is highly unstable to base your only income. Risky.

You should always consider your options and be planning to not be reliant on adsense.. Your business plan should have alternatives incorporated into it. Never rely on just one thing.

Adsense Is nice, but anything can happen to anyone.

Google can and does ban accounts for any reason, I think it totally depends on what side of the bed someone gets up on. A sure way to combat this issue would be to have more than one account and to spread your sites among them. I know the rules say you can only have a single account, but your spouse can have an account, your business can have an account, your other business can have an account. I am sure you get the idea.
I know some people will have an issue with this, but it works and it can help secure your income.

I personally can't trust google's adsense for income. The banning is too moody and unpredictable.

You can follow the rules just fine one day, then the next they'll change them, then lifeban you without any sort of warning.

It's the absolute worst way to treat your users, and anything that finds this sort of practice acceptable just can't be trusted.

I'd much rather use clickbank or anything like clickbank.

EDIT: If only adsense had some sort of competition that treated their users better. Maybe google would stop lifebanning people like this.

I don't know where the paranoia of banning comes from. If you are making quality sites and following the rules you're not going to get banned. So don't panic about it. I think the paranoia comes from the days of arbitrage when countless people were cheating the system and Google suddenly changed the rules without warning. But that was because people were massively abusing arbitrage.

But in any case, it is always a good idea to have multiple income streams. I quit my day job when I had just an Adsense income. But now I work on other things like Amazon niche sites.

This has been the case with a number of employers I've had too. One quarter they give you an achievement award and the next quarter they're having the security guard show you the door.

It's best not to depend on a single stream of income, (job, Adsense, affiliate, single investments or whatever) and to have contingency plans and a good liquid cash emergency fund in place.

I've read on one article (I forgot the title) that Google lacks a customer support division or something like that.. Majority of their employees are engineers so there really is no time to review appeals why your account was banned or requests of reinstitution of an Adsense account.. I don't know how true is this..

I did it, and the bulk of my income still comes from Adsense.

    Some Advice:

    1) Build sites around products and services that have affiliate programs,
CPA, or those that you can create your own product on.

    2) Milk that Adsense income.

    3) Should you get banned, you then know what to do (utilize the power
of those programs listed above, or switch them out with other CPC
    companies.

You need to diversify your income streams. Part of business is take measures that will not affect you entirely if something were to happen.

      Hi simpleonline1234,

Stop worrying and just do it!

You need to change your mindset, you are not building AdSense sites, you are building content websites. You own and operate them, not AdSense. AdSense is just a consumer of your ad space. They are only one of many possible consumers and you are not dependent on any single one of them.

Fear will prevent you from reaching every dream you have ever had if you allow it to paralyze you. Every worthwhile thing that you could do is fraught with risks and will forever remain elusive until you find the courage to risk failure.

Build your empire of quality websites and AdSense, along with all their competitors, will eagerly seek your ad space. There is much you can do to mitigate the risk of getting your AdSense account banned, just follow the TOS and watch your traffic with diligence and you will be just fine. The majority of those who get banned are violating the TOS or targeting junk traffic, you can't expect to trick Google into making you rich, you have to earn it.

The diversity concept makes sense. We all know the saying "don't put all your eggs in one basket." But I'm also reminded of Robert Kiyosaki. I believe he is the one that taught me "the other side of the equation" where when you "do put all your eggs in once basket" you can end up making a lot of money with that basket. It's the idea of "focusing your efforts." I know that when I focus hard on one thing, that it starts to flourish in a big way.

I think the real answer in the internet marketing world is to focus on 2 or maybe 3 big sources of income. If you focus on the 50 different ways to make money, then you'll likely never make big income with anything. Focusing hard on 2 or 3 things will give you "backup" streams of income in the internet marketing world when Google does something crazy, like they did today, once again, with Google AdWords account suspensions.

I find that Adsense will juz drop you from the list and they do not give you the exact reasons for it, juz some general message which makes you wonders what really went wrong.

And the best thing is they anticipate you will want to reply them in email and hence already provided a link to you to link to another general Q & A sections, which is not friendly at all.

Dont count on it as primary income...

I think that you should always have multiple streams of income so that you diversify your risk.

I have not had any dramas personally with adsense. I am just in the process of making three more sites that will have adsense on them as one income stream. But I am planning to have 3 other income streams on each site to reduce the risk of having one of them go bad.

I agree with the comments that even if you did lose your adsense income that what you have learned in generating it would mean that you could quickly compensate for this loss with other ways of generating income from your sites.

    Hmm, yeah.
Adsense is very risky therefore I always use ebay on my site too.
And with the qpc program I am kind of earning more than adsense with that.

Now, if I could only get accepted by some cpa programs I would have one more income stream to add.

it would definitely worry me.....because for the most part in order to get a full-time income by simply monetizing your sites, or blogs with adsense would take a HELL of a lot of work....and as you said the possiblity of waking up one day to see it all gone....possibly through no fault of your own is truly horrifying.

seems a mix of cpa offers...banners.....charging for advertising.....affiliate programs AND adsense works best in the sense of not puttling ALL of your eggs into one google.....errrrr i mean basket!
