Bum Marketing - Is it Easier to Rank?

I've been doing affiliate marketing for about 8 months now. I own 6 of my own websites, but I've noticed that the only affiliate sales that I have made are on Squidoo lenses that I have put up (bum marketing). I'm beginning to wonder if that's the better way to go, since Squidoo is looked on highly by Google and it seems easier to rank a lens than a WordPress blog/site on my own domain. Any opinions on this?

Perhaps I'm not patient enough, . . . but at the end of 8 months, ironically, bum marketing seems to be the most profitable avenue for me.

*am drinking, sorry if this seems like a stupid thought*

That's true. I make sales every month, but it's nothing to write home about.

I'm just tired of busting my bum on my own websites and not making a dime (minus Adsense), but yet I can throw up a Squidoo lens and almost effortlessly pull in a few sales.

It's not entirely surprising since Google is likely to have a soft corner for established top-level-domains like squidoo or wordpress, and to get your own domain up there, you'll need to push a lot harder (with higher payoffs, I should imagine).

In other words, that the bum marketing stuff is doing better at this point isn't entirely ironic, perhaps expected.

Yeah. I was thinking, it might be a better idea to test niches with a Squidoo lens than to invest money in a new domain every time I want to try out promoting a new product. We all know that some bomb while others profit.

Although Bum marketing is a sure short way of making lots of $$ - required you put in the hard work, its actually never going to make you a millionaire.

Its something for those who have a regular Job and they're just seeking some extra income. Put in some hard work = get some cash . Simple story

Coming to your question - Yes of course its easier to rank your content with BUM marketing than your site. Sites like azine, squidoo and hubpages have a high PR and google looks upon them as trustworthy sources of info - and who shouldn't they . All content is regulated on these sites ........

    Hi Ofthemix,

I recently started a Wordpress Blog and noticed it was not ranking as fast as I thought it would be. Sticking with it for now.

Just wondering if you write any articles? If you do maybe you could step up and do a PR Web release.

I haven't written any articles in a while, though I know I need to get back onto it. That's where the majority of my IM money comes from, traffic from EZA articles.

When I was on an article kick though, I could easily pump out 10 -15 a day. I've played around with the idea of starting a PLR site, since I did used to write a lot of articles, but something in my head keeps telling me that nothing would come of it. That's probably just my mind leading me away from money though.
