Dangers of using trademark name in domain?

Hi i have some keywords which i want to rank for, but they contain company brand names. Im willing to take down the site if the company complains, but im afraid if they complain direct to the registar (namecheap) and they might shut down my account.

    Maybe they will I'm not sure about namecheap, but my advice is don't play games with that things online.

    The issue wouldn't be with your registrar, it would be with your hosting company. Godaddy has been known to not want to argue with legal requests, so they tend to be take down happy. HostGator on the other hand is less jumpy in that regard, I believe.

    Note: I use trademarks in certain domain names of mine as I h ave weighed the various risks and I have never ever seen one instance of where this issue has come up and they have not just given a takedown request first. That being said, I was basically called the anti-christ in that thread for my view on this subject. It was pretty much 10 on 1.

      There is absolutely no problem, unless you try and market it as
      an official site. The courts have been there, done that.

      That's why so many sites like I hate gm.com, or other hate
      sites, or even fan sites flourish. How many domains do you
      think have google, playstation, wii, etc. in them? Tons.

      Fair and legal. In fact, companies either love them (fan sites)
      or hate them (hate sites). Either way, a name brand in a domain
      is fair game.

      You just cannot use logos, trademarks, etc. to market your site,
      or try and push yourself off as an official sanctioned site.

      It just occurred to me again that there are a zillion domains with
      beatles in them.

      A great way to use images legally, is to become an amazon affiliate
      and post image links to products. Amazon actually encourages this.
