Anyone Know Anything About PageRank?

I have two sites I have been promoting over the last few months that use the exact same software, called Volusion.

The two sites are didis.com and accessdatamedia.com

Both have done well in the search engine results pages and are well ranked for multiple terms. They both have gotten many/most of the same kind of backlinks.

But, didis has a PageRank of 3 and accessdatamedia has a PageRank of 0. The accessdata domain has been active for about 5 years, so just that fact alone should give it a PR 1.

Can anyone tell me why accessdatamedia would have a PR 0? I'm at the top of Google for a bunch of (semi-competitive) terms with a PR 0...

Why do you care about the PR if you are doing well with it?

Pagerank is a direct reflection of incoming links, which that site does not have any.

The Pagerank that is shown in the toolbar is always out of date!

This applies to the Pagerank reported by some websites that provide the service. Google only update that value every few months, but they are continually determining the value of your pages each day for ranking purposes. That is why an EZA article can rank highly in Google immediately even though it won't show any Pagerank.

Pagerank is pretty useless, I would say more useless than the Alexa ranking. However it can be used as a rough guide to sites that it would be good to get a backlink from.

Accessdatamedia does not have any back links reported. This is why. Reason to why you may be ranked anyways for the terms is because the competition would not be so tight in this particular area for those terms. Hope this helps....

When you put in the www there are 127 links showing up.

I'm number 8 for a term that has 1,030,000 competition when put in quotes, so that is pretty stiff competition! I was just number 5 a couple of weeks ago.

But, in my experience, I have never seen an aged domain that does not at least have a PR 1 when it has some links going to it.

Thanks for your input so far.

I think content on your pr0 blog is duplicate or low quality ones. Thats the reason it got less pR.

Post high quality article and try to get pr 5+ backlinks. It may improve your pagerank.

    Hi Dan,
How did you get 127 to come up?

If you use the link command in Google properly:
link:http://wwwdotaccessdatamediadotcom (of course write it out)

you can see that there are no links. You can also use the google toolbar and select backlinks and this will enter in the correct link command in Google. I know that Google does not report everything to avoid spammers to take advantage but if it shows absolutely nothing then, you dont have any back links with any value....The other domain that you have seem to show back links....

How did you come up with that? If you search in Google using your keyword phrase and look at how many websites got returned this is not the way to measure competition....you should use the allinanchor and allintitle command and that will show much more accurate numbers of your true competition......

I really do not understand the fascination or infatuation with page rank. Unless you are selling links, it does nothing to put money in the bank. What should matter more is your serps and if you are converting.
