Does anybody have any success with using google's 468x60 image banner ads? I'm debating whether or not I should use it because I know that I personally never click on those types of banner ads...

Should I use it, or just stick with text ads?

It depends upon your site. On some sites it brings a bit of color and life to them.
But it is often stated that text ads perform better if utilized correctly.
A combination of both is often used I believe.

Testing and relocating your ads for the best performance is not wasting your time. It is part of your job as a marketer IMHO.
I do think when you are testing that you may want to wait a little longer than a day to get a better picture of performance.

You are changing ads every day? Frankly, before you consider ad placement, you need to check if you are getting any traffic. What are your keywords and is your site generating enough traffic? Without critical mass in terms of traffic, there won't be anyone to click your ads.

As text ad pays more ,
Since when do text ads pay more?

If this were the case, google would not offer the
      text and image
option. Why? Because the highest bidder would be a text link,
according to your theory. In fact, I'll bet google even
says to go with text and image ads to get the most money.

Now if you really mean that people CLICK on a text ad more,
      perhaps in certain niches, maybe.

I myself would only go for image only if you have all
3 ad blocks on your page, and 2 are text only.

When I do my images ads on the Content network, I tend to do all formats (and since 468x60 is your traditional banner size, you should probably at least test it). I get most of my decent results on the 300x250 and 200x200

Yes, I also use the 300X250 and 200X200 banners and it works fine. anyway test run all your favorite size on your site and see which one gives you the best clicks.

This is something you just have to test. You are looking to maximise the earnings of your page / site as a whole not for an individual ad. Sometimes you will find that less is more.
