Turns out to no ones surprise that getting links and authority domains play a big part in SEO. The link building data was interesting too

Turns out all those people stacking up on forum signature backlinks rather than a balanced portfolio are in for a disappointemnt. Forum signatures are WAY down the bottom of the list (but notably still of some use rather than none). I was a little surprised to see leveraging twitter and generic directories in the top 20. Pretty easy to pick the wrong directories though.

I'm playing devil's advocate...but this is a survey - basically a snapshot. This may change in a month. This isn't really saying that this is the right way of building links - but what most ppl are doing what. They maybe wrong.

But you can argue - that the reason why ppl are doing this (especially the top 5) is because it is working for them.

Interesting article altogether. thx for the post.

This comes out every two years, came out in August. I use it as my main "authority" source for what trends are hot in SEO. Its more than an "article" it is the concensus of a panel pretty authoritative SEO's - it is something everyone should read and be aware of.

Yep. If it weren't an authoritative site I would not have posted it. You might be particularly interested in the negative factors Jazbo. Especially #2. Known link sellers are being scrutinized. Now more than ever its good to have links and lists that are not distributed all over the place.

Yep this poll is from SEOmoz.org

They aren't some kiddy SEO forum. SEOmoz is probably one of the most reliable resources on the net when it comes to SEO practices and news.

    Great share!
