SubID Tracking on CJ - ?!?!

I can't get the SubId tracking on Commission Junction to work, and their support is a steaming pile of ****.

I need SudId to run PPC campaigns; I'm trying to create a SubId tracker which I then enter into Tracking202.
The SubId values (i.e. the different keywords) are showing on the Tracking 202 reports but not on the CJ end (i.e I see just the results from the overall tracker), and I have had some actions from my test campaign so the pixel has fired.

If I understand correctly you:
- choose for example a text link from a merchant/vendor
- In the SID box enter something e.g ''test''
- Update link code
- Enter this tracker into tracking202

I know this isn't a very glamorous thread like ''How I made 400K in 2 weeks'' OR ''Banned from Google'' - but help would be appreciated!!

    Hey Rysk,

What do you see on the CJ end? You should see numbers like 6789543 and 6789789 etc., for sub ids at CJ.

If you setup Tracking202 properly, you'll be able to tell which numbers correspond to conversions.

You mentioned the tracking pixel, so you're updates should be automated. Sounds like you don't quite have Tracking202 setup properly.

You are correct in putting something is the subid box and grabbing the new link, but you want to make sure you only grab up to the sid= and that's it.

Then you put that link in step #3 of Tracking202.

If you want to provide some specifics, I'd be happy to answer your questions.

Also you can check out Subids.com - How Subid Tracking Works. for more info on using subids with Tracking202.

    Thanks,

    Hi Derek,

    Thanks for the reply.

    - I don't see those numbers (678654) etc on the CJ performance report, but I know that's what I should be seeing if the subid was working/set up on CJ.
    - I think I have set up the Tracking 202 side properly as on the keyword analysis report page I'm seeing the different keywords on my PPC campaign that have been passed through from the tracking 202 tracker
e.g. widget / blue widget / red widget / widgets
    - When I referred to the pixel I meant the pixel that CJ places on the vendor/merchant thanks you page NOT the tracking 202 pixel. I refer to this pixel because the subid values only pass through on the CJ side once there has been an action (e.g. lead/sale) and the CJ pixel has fired. There have been a few actions on my small Yahoo test campaign so that's not the issue.
    - You said that I should put something in the SubId box on CJ e.g. ''test'' but that I shouldn't include this in the URL that I enter in step 3 on Tracking 202. So the URL string ends at SID=
This doesn't follow logic, why enter something after SID= and then not use it, but if this is the right way then that's what I'll try now.

Update - I was kind of dumb and didn't go to the right report on CJ.
SubId values are showing on the transaction reports BUT they don't seem to be showing the right kind of value.

    For instance i'm seeing for a SubId value - test967453 and test%0934572%.
'Test' was what I put into the subid box when I created the subid tracker.

Shouldn't the SubId values be completely numeric - 9246789 as an example. This Is what I understand from the tracking 202 subid video.

For another campaign I'm not getting any SubId numeric values, but rather the exact text that I put into the subid box

    What's going on?

The reason you enter something is to make sure you get the subid added to your affiliate link. If you already know how to do that then you don't need to enter anything.

Most every affiliate network is different in how they do subid tracking, so by entering something, you know you're getting the subid added to your link.

That's why you don't put any keywords or anything after 'sid=' when your setting up your campaign.

Tracking202 automagically adds the numeric subid for you so you can see exactly which subid corresponds to which keywords and conversions in the Tracking202 interface.

Once you update Tracking202 with the subids that converted. You'll then have the correct data for your campaigns.

As far as the other campaign, it's hard to say. That's odd you get the text but not the numeric value. Are you sure it's setup properly in Tracking202. Maybe you should compare it to the campaign that is working.

Once you set things up you need to test everything before your campaigns go live. I can't stress that enough.

I hope that helps out some.

      Thanks,
