I have to say I spend more time back linking then actually producing content. Its one of my most expensive and man labor tasks out there right now.

Bookmarking is an easy back linking task however what are other methods of back linking and is there any true automated tools that do work.

Right now I do,
Bookmarking
Commenting blogs
Yahoo answers
Article Marketing

In my arsenal I have
Humming bird
SENUKE
Bookmarking Demon

I am sure I am living something out always so much to out there to use. What other forms of back linking do you do and is there a honest good or great software program that does it automatically or cuts down on time?

I hear AutoSyndication is coming and it will be the easiest form of building backlinks as it requires no work on your part other than submitting 1 article as normal...

This may go against some peoples methods. But I don't personally believe that this can be automated with any long-term success.

Every time I have attempted to automate this kind of work, I see gains in the short-term but in the long-term I end up getting banned.

Most of the people who fight me on this opinion are the people who are in the middle of doing everything with automation. Some of them have subsequently returned with horror stories of their own.

I'm not saying it can't be done. I'm just saying think twice before you go down this road

It may work if you're attempting to monetize Google Hot Trends, which will really make the most of its money in 2-3 days, so any income built after that is a bonus but not something you're putting your eggs in.

Agreed. But even then if you continue hammering the same domain with automated social bookmarking and back link building you may still come across problems with either the social bookmarking sites themselves or Google

      Brad,
This is why you use your "OWN" network of sites for syndication... Now of course that is easier said then done but done properly can be very powerful...

While using your own network of sites also keep in mind that many web 2.0 sites can be interlinked. For example:

If I make a post on su.pr and add that post to facebook and twitter then it is also tied into my friendfeed account and mister-wong, so with just one post I am actually hitting 4 sites at once.

That's not quite what I'm talking about. I also use the SU.PR plug in. I think anything that is sanctioned by the Web 2.0 sites is okay. Most automation software does not fit that criteria.

I think there is a difference between automated or cascading submissions and total automation.

          Brad,
I understand what you mean .. But again this is why you use your own network of sites which you do have control over...

My rule of thumb is to stay away from any automation. I don't even spin articles.

The articles I submit are all unique. Yes - it takes a lot more time - but I know I'm doing it right and it will climb the SERPs and stay there.

Outsourcing can be your friend in this and is not that expensive at all. Especially compared to the time it saves you. The key is finding someone that understands what you expect out of them.

If you can find someone that fits the bill and who provides reports on what they are doing you will free up a lot of your valuable time

There are some very good services offered here on the forum and well worth a look. There are also some not so good offers so read the reviews.
