Social Bookmarking Question:

I heard somewhere that getting bookmarks from multiple different users from different ip addresses is better for SEO. I don't get it. If I join Digg for example and make 20 friends that digg up my submission, how is this any different then me having 20 different accounts that I digg up? The IP for the backlink is coming from DIGG either way right? I don't currently have multiple accounts, or plan on doing this, just wondering. I tried to research this and have no clue where I heard this.

    You might not be able to create 20 accounts unless you use a proxy, I think they check that. Plus its very easy to leave a footprint that digg, et all can see and the WILL ban you. It's happened on Mixx on a bookmarking sort of "club" service that I'm a member of.

        Reddit
        Newsvine

    I know you wouldn't want to create 20 different accounts, just an example. My question is that the backlinks are still coming from the same ip address correct? If so, how does it benefit to have more then 1 backlink to a specific page from DIGG for example? Take Ezine articles for example, it doesn't give much link value in the SERPs to have 50 articles pointing to the same page from Ezine with the same keyword does it?? If not, then wouldn't it be the same with the social bookmarking sites? No matter how many people bookmark your site through Mixx, etc.. Google is only going to really count the 1 link right?
