There really isn't a simple answer, because it depends on so many things.

What search term are you trying to rank for?
    What's the competition like?
What content have you got on your site?
How many backlinks do you have?

No easy answer, it depends on too many factors. If you set up your site correctly, and you don't have any strong competition, then I would guess 3 months (that's just a guess though).

There is no way to answer that question without more information. Is your site new? What niche are you in? What keyword(s) are you targeting?

You can start by posting original content on a frequent basis while slowly getting backlinks. That is the minimum you should be doing. But no one can really tell you how long it will take without a lot more info - and even then...

        John,

I would be surprised if many people respond. we all responded to you to help you and now you want to skyrocket that same site to the top of google???

Your site hasn't got a chance of being in the top of Google it has to be redone as most of us told you over and again. your site bears little relevance and is not content oriented in other words it is not constantly updated Google loves content information update lots if you want to be in a serp i suppose you could try ppc. of course offering a course to make people money when you yourself make none and then have it at the top of google is a good way to ruin yourself before ever having a chance of success good luck with that

Seems to me you wasted a lot of people's time i would be surprised if you get much help at all now

You must first get your site noticed by Google, by creating strong back links to your site. Start by posting articles to Web 2.0 sites like Ezine Articles, Squidoo, HubPages, Weebly, Blogger, wordpress. Make sure to use the anchor text of your keyword you are targeting.

Then start building other back links like social book marks, directory submissions, profile back links with do-follow links from high page ranking sites.

The more and more you do this, the more relevant Google will find you in your keyword you are chasing; which means higher Rankings in the search engines.

SEO helps! Here are some of the things you need to remember with regards to SEO:

On-Page Optimization - it deals with the proper use of title tags, meta tags, alt tags, description, keywords, sitemap and heading tags.

Off-Page Optimization - it is responsible for creating quality of back links or inbound links.
