I have created a blog and indexed it, how do I know if my website is indexed or not and is there a tool to see what are the keywords my site is indexed for?

Just put "site:www.domainname.com" in Yahoo Explorer Search or Google Search.. No spaces..

To determine if a site is indexed, use the "site:domain.com" search as 2d0k suggested. As for determining what keywords your site is indexed for you can try KeywordSpy. The free version will only show you the top 15 keywords I believe, but it's a start.

The advice above is excellent. Also, if you're using blogging software such as WordPress, look for free plugins that create Google xml sitemaps, and that optimize your website for search engines (SEO). Both will improve your positions at the search engines.

After that, keep posting regularly... every two or three days, at least.

Generally, my websites are indexed within hours, and rank well (first page, and usually in the top 5) within a couple of days.

Good luck, and I hope 2010 brings you much success!

I did google search for "site:www.mydomainname.com" and found my site indexed for "about me" page but can't find my blog content indexed. Infact I am using some popular SEO plugin and sitemap generator plugin. Its almost a week since I got my site live.

Since when did you create the contents of the blog or the blog itself?.. Just be patient and wait for about a week or two.. I have pages on one of my sites which got indexed after three weeks..

Don't worry about when your pages get indexed, rather put your time and effort on writing more contents for your blog.. Search engine crawlers like a site which has fresh content always.

if you host your own wordpress blog check the privacy settings and make sure the "visible to all" setting is checked as i have found this a problem with all my other blogs. It seems wordpress make blogs invisible to searah engines by default these days.

Should I have a privacy page, about me and contact us page to get it indexed on google so that I comply with adsense policy?

You can use this syntax to determine if your site is being listed in Google or not:

    Code:
    site:website address

Is the content you have in your blog duplicate? If Google found too much duplicate content while indexing your site this can delay the time it takes for your site to show up on Google.

Have you registered the at Google Webmaster Tools? That way you'll know if they found any problems while crawling your site.

I'd recommend you to do some easy & basic linkbuilding: register at several high-traffic forums and put your site's link in your signature. This alone should help you get indexed pretty quickly.
